Post Rock/Post Metal/Math Rock Thread

'Bout time! Aphorisms was a nice change of pace for their slightly boring albums, but I wasnt expecting to wait another two years before the album those songs were supposed to be on.

Nah, it certainly belongs here   The greatest thing about this thread is that we've got some super open minded individuals lurking about in here.  Anyways, with that aside, this band is pretty damn neat. It reminds me of the band "Grails", but mixed with sludgy drone tempos. The more i listen to it, the more i'm diggin' it.





Anyways, a little contribution from me, that i think all my peeps in this thread might dig: (their new LP is my fav. release so far this year, after the new Jaga)

I can't vouch for their old stuff, but check out the compositions "Familiarity" and "Sadatephobia"

I'd describe it as math rock style dynamic polyrhythyms played with acoustic guitars, employing the lush tones that one might hear from Agalloch. (kick ass, yes, i know)  It can get kinda jazzy/free-form sometimes which may turn some people off, but it's worth it to hang in there for the genuine composing imo.

Btw, fellas...   Am i gonna have to somehow join the postrock/mathrock team and add the venerable "The Six Parts Seven" myself?    They're not even together anymore, (or atleast, i think) but it's amazing to me that the archives are lacking such a classic post rock band.

^ I normally disregard any personal advertising on these boards, (we do have a section for self promotion: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=48 )but thanks for sharing your creations. I usually try to be modest when suggesting/recommending music, (if you happened to have seen my post above) but seriously, you fellas are some genuine and amazing composers. In my observations, super dynamic rhythms and melodies can be a bit abrasive to casual/hardly interested in music admirers, but i wouldn't change a thing on "Immeasurable".

Anyways, if you're a fan of "post" or "prog" rock, stick around. It's always nice to see more input on these forums.

Well, i'll try and salvage some info.  I truly appreciate the invite regarding joining the team, although i feel almost unworthy considering that i haven't submitted any reviews. (it's really kinda silly, i appreciate reading others reviews, but when it comes to myself, i'm so critical of my own writing that i never consider my own attempts "complete" enough to be worth submitting)
