The Flower Kings will most certainly never "sell out" and go pop!

I think Yes is up next, or the one after, I don't have Josh's (not so) little chart memorized. I think he's grouping by genre, and grouping each poll into a group of four.

Great.

I put in for Anglagard, Even if they're not the most grounded they're the ones I parktake in listening to with the most giddy giggling, screams of delight, and feelings of prog goodness.

Doesn't matter what was said before and what will be said in future about this poll - this don't affect my choice in any way. The winner is obvious and it's called GENESIS.

And now you can discuss the rest, if you want.LOL

Another vote for The Flower Kings.  I'm sure that's no surprise Tongue.

The interesting thing is that most people who voted for TFK have also made a full post too.  Good taste.

I love the incredible sophistication and maturity of Anglagard's second album, which to me isn't derivative at all (a criticism that might be successfully levelled at Hybris, which was to me the inferior work anyway) but Genesis takes the vote simply because they had more material and had an incredibly huge impact on prog, and were one of the founders of symph.

That being said I'm voting for Anglagard. The whole point of these tournaments is the underdog vote. Speaking of which, let's see if we can get Atomic Rooster to at least the quarter finals.

Genesis is hugely popular, in part because of Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins. And they are influencial. But the Flower Kings are on the cutting edge right now, and have yet to "sell out" like Genesis did after Peter Gabriel left.
It's unfortunate that Pink Floyd has little competition, and unfortunate that Yes vs. Genesis will happen so early.
The Prog Metal section will be very difficult and likely contentious.

It is all the same in World Cup or Champions league :)
Really don't mind if you sit this one out.

It's been done before, but not as sophisticated and well planned as this. Well done Clap

I'm voting Genesis though.

The poll is over!

This division's winner is Genesis!  I'll give an honorable mention to The Flower Kings, who came in second place.  Now, Genesis will continue onto Round 2.  Next up is Round 1, Division 2: Symphonic Prog (Part 2.)  See you there.

Voting's over, but I would have said Genesis followed by The Flower Kings and Renaissance. Anglagard stil hasn't "grabbed" me, so to speak.

Seriously though, cool idea, nice bracket, should be fun. I'll beat a dead horse and give Genesis another vote.

Agreed. Quite nicely set up poll. Well done.

What surprises me is that Anglagard haven't come second.
