Ahh, the luck of the draw.  My two favorite bands in the first bracket, I'll vote for "The Flower Kings" this time as I'll be able to vote for Genesis in the second round.

BTW  Genesis (With apologies to the others who I don't know well).

Trendsetter win!

Voted for TFK, one of my favorite bands, but I know they'll be crushed by Genesis in this poll.
At least it's great to see that they got more votes than two renowed bands such as Renaissance and Änglagård. Big smile

I love these kind of things.

One thing I might have done, if I had the patience, would be to build a round by round 'seeding' into the draw. For example, the top two most popular groups in terms of votes would be placed at opposite ends of the draw, so there would be less chance of two 'super' groups meeting one another in the earler stages.

That would be tough in this instance though as you've gone down the 'genre' route.

That's usually what I tried to do in my past tournaments.

Maybe someday I'll do another one again and improve heavily on it.

I agree - while I love TFK and Anglagard (esp Space Revolver and Hybris, respectively) - Genesis is in a whole different category for me.  Then again, that might have something to do with the fact that my wife gave me Genesis' 1973-2007 live box set for Christmas!

Oh, Renaissance is very nice as well - wish I had been able to catch them on their recent tour...

Aw... Hammill and VDGG in the same group... and with the only popular competition there as well.

The finals were Pink Floyd and King Crimson. King Crimson won.

I also held another one without the "Big 4" and Gentle Giant beat Van Der Graaf Generator in those finals.

I normally don't vote on band vs band threads, but you won me over with your impressive bracket

Genesis for me, mainly because I don't really care for any of the others

This, of course, will end predictably (unless it doesn't, but heh).

He puts Kansas against Yes and Echolyn against ELP!  Cry

You Philistines will vote for ELP without even hearing the amazement that is Echolyn!  OuchCry

Okay, I'll stop being a cry baby now and only add to the problem of predictability:  Another vote for Genesis.  LOL

Out of those two my votes will be Yes and Echolyn.

I think Yes is up next, or the one after, I don't have Josh's (not so) little chart memorized. I think he's grouping by genre, and grouping each poll into a group of four.
