No insult to Brotzman intended.....those squawks must mean something to someone!
I've tried it man......Spiritual Unity, Machine Gun, Ascension/Om - all the honking classics. Impassioned stuff, no doubt, but soooo tough to sit thru. Still, without question, this is soul music laid bare. I may not like the stuff, but Ornette and Ayler made no concessions....the music was spontaneous and ultra-energized....almost exhausting to listen to.
I've never heard an AEoC album with Brotzman......AEoC had that whole world fusion kettle they'd filter everything thru - great idea in theory but, man, to me it was just clunks, clanks and gongs and intermittant squeals and squonks.
Actually, I was mistaken, I had seen a Youtube video of Peter Brotzmann with the Art Ensemble, but it seems they never recorded an album together. I understand other people not liking it, but don't say it's the worst. :P

Nickelback and Hoobastank. There is nothing redeeming about post-grunge and pop-punk.
I completely agree. I have a severe dislike of every mainstream rock band since, and including, Nirvana (with the exception of Alice in Chains... I don't really know why I like them, but I do).
I would choose those exact bands as representatives as well. We all know Nickelback sucks, and Hoobastank's The Reason is up there for worst song of the last 10 years. Post-grunge and pop-punk are just complete crap.
Actually, I'm surprised there aren't more votes for avante-garde jazz or rock......most of the responses have been for boy bands, coroporate rock bands and such. Like I said, they simply can't help it - they get stacks of cash for playing what teams of researchers believe will sell. They're just the mouth pieces of something much bigger, so if you wan't to nominate the Jonas Brothers, well, then you're going to have to condemn the whole of mainstream pop culture.....and that's just too easy, a non-challenge. The topic has relevance only if you speak of MUSIC that really annoys you, not a cultural trend that annoys you.
I was going to nominate Anima as the worst band ever, but at least they didn't shower us with "meaningful" conch shell solos and "truth incarnate" from various woodwinds. AEoC was pretentious on top of being overbearingly noisy!
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

insane clown posse, how in the hell anyone thinks they have a shred of talent is beyond me, oh and nickleback, I'd rather listen to metallica's st.anger or black album over nickleback or insane clown posse any day, and I hate those albums with a passion, and when i say hate I mean it, after all i love old school metallica.
