Yeah, but I could't find any value in a CD that only has wind chimes and birds on it.  In "Grantchester Meadows" it's fine because it's not only that one sound effect.

I could see someone using effects like that to fade in/out of different songs, but not as the entire thing.

Really, it depends on how well crafted the CD is.  If it's genuinely thought out, rather than just random sampling of the birds and chimes, then I could probably enjoy it.  If it's nothing but random birds and chimes...well, I might still enjoy it, but it'd be more hit or miss.

I agree, I genuinely like listening to both sounds, but mindlessly splicing clips together doesn't appeal to me.

As I said, if the mindless splicing together works well I'd probably enjoy it, but more often than not it would probably turn out to be not so good IMO.

I'm imagining music the vein of "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast", where the background sound fades in and out of different pieces of music.

I haven't heard that song, so I can't comment.

In other news, definitely check out Blackouts.  The album seemed merely good to me until the last track, now it's seeming very good.

Hm, it depends on the subject, how much your grade depends on it, and how much you care about your grade.  Oh, and how drunk you are.  And how much time you have to write it.

This was the artist I saw at The Stone, but I think it lacks the power of it live because it's too clean, and when it's not live the droney elements get a bit too much for me. Go to Snow to get straight to the feedback.

I've also always liked this ditty.

It's worth 20% which isn't much. I don't have to do super well and don't really have a clue what to write about. But I figure I'll get some points for the answer being... well, at least interesting.

I've heard the AHM suite, but nothing else from the album.

I've never been the biggest Floyd fan, really.  Though I did really like the AHM suite, and I've liked the few tracks I've heard from Piper, so maybe I'd like their earlier stuff more than, say, DSotM or the Wall.

I'm not a big fan of their later stuff either, well, at least I don't think it is their best. Their early work is definitely better.
