I need to actually buy some Ayler, I love everything I've heard.

He is good. Recently I particularly enjoyed Vibrations w/ Don Cherry, it's great to hear him play with a trumpeter who actually understands what he's doing.

Well, what is it then?

Personally, I think "I Hate Music" is much more suitable for Henry than PA.

Never heard of it, or if I have you spelled it wrong. Sounds interesting though.

Essentially, it's 5 complete heads of garlic, 2 sticks of butter, some oil, with the tuna/sardines/anchovies all mixed up together (we blend them but some people just chunk them up) and all simmered for an hour or so.  If you enjoy fish and garlic, it's probably one of the best things ever.

It's not really much of a put-down as it is the truth.  It seems as if Henry's taste is more similar to the majority in "I Hate Music" rather than ProgArchives.  The only artists I've seen him take interest in on this site are Henry Cow and John Zorn (as well as the Jazz artists.)  I just think it's strange that he spends a lot of time on PA when only about 10% of the bands on this site would appeal to him.

I think he listens to more than that, and he isn't the only one who talks about jazz a lot.

I'm liking it so far.  It's pricey on every site I've found it on so far, so I didn't want to buy it and find out I hated it.  Now that I'm getting New Age of Earth and listening to this I'm pretty sure I'll end up picking this up at some point.

Hey! I like Van Der Graaf Generator and The Mars Volta too! I talk about avant-jazz a lot here because it's my current primary musical interest, it's what a bunch of people in this thread are into, and it's not interesting to talk about how I liked Bedlam in Goliath when you could talk about TMV anywhere else on this forum. Even though I do hate music sometimes. :P

I haven't heard anything other than the first track from New Age of Earth yet, but I'm excited to get it.

VDGG and TMV are indeed awesome, so I guess I'm starting to agree with you now.

Recorded feedback still sucks.

Yeah, the thing is is that the SR is basically the place where everyone goes to worship the Zeuhl, RIO and Avant music.

I'm not a huge fan of TMV anymore, their albums were awesome for a while for me but now they're just average.  VdGG, on the other hand, I still enjoy.

Some recorded feedback sucks. I saw a show at The Stone that was mostly feedback and noise generated by speakers, it was awesome. It was sort of an eye opening event.

I'm listening to some sample Graham Lambkin MP3s, I don't know what IHM sees in him. Ooooh, he's electronically manipulating classical music, oh my. I think he read too much John Cage to think that recordings of birds and wind chimes is interesting music.

Show me a Youtube clip of feedback that has any redeeming value and I might change my opinion on all noise (or whatever the correct word for that kind of music.)

Birds are good if they are used well, like on PF's "Grantchester Meadows".

Birds are good if they are used well, like in poking out people's eyes.
