Every time this thread title appears in recent posts http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=63550&PN=1 I think of the song "Sport'N A Woody" by the Dangerous Toys.

Actually, I am more open-minded now, but I still doubt it well ever become one of my favorites.  In general, blues is just not the kind of music that appeals to me

Yeah. I've increasingly become more open-minded over the past 5 years, pretty much.

As my taste has matured and I've become increasingly open-minded, I've found that it's akin to anything else in your life---I still may really like Yes as much as I always have, but I've found all different kinds of other music that I like just as much but in different ways (which is a great thing). And when you're discovering so much new music and you've heard Yes often for 2 or 3 years, it just isn't as instinctive for me to grab a Yes album now than it is to grab a Squarepusher album. But it's simply just a journey with time--and everything tends to go in cycles.

Now that I'm able to enjoy the stuff that I got into years ago, or just now, or music that is pretty accessible right along with music that is really inaccessible, I can pretty much listen to whatever two artists I want in a row. It only depends on my mood.

If I were you, I wouldn't give it any thought and broaden your horizons--but it has to be natural. You can't sit down and try really hard to like something. I find that people on this website do that way too often. Just sit back and let the music flow.

I'm listening to Amon Duul II for the first time, and this is pretty interesting- and I'm not forcing myself to like it.

Amon Duul II is one of my least favorite artists.  Yeti is my least favorite prog album ever.  I think that I would rather watch an American Idol episode.  Ok, maybe not that far, but you get my point.

Mostly because I find the vocals to be absolutely awful.  Even worse than Dagmar Krause on that Henry Cow album.

I can understand why you wouldn't like it, but I never knew it was your least favorite TOTAL EVER.
