I just printed out 50 double-sided pages of blank sheet music.  More will probably be printed Friday, 17 more sheets in fact.  All I can say is that Penn State gives us 110 sheets per semester and I had 67 left, no point in wasting them.

I've used 1, and feel like I'd enjoy writing out a bit of stuff.  I'm going to try it out over Christmas break and see how horrible I am at composing music. Tongue

Seeing as how I have lost what little ability I used to have at reading sheet music, I would do poorly.

I can read it [now fairly proficiently in bass AND treble clef, though still more easily in the better (bass).  Thumbs Up] and I have a bit of experience with writing it, though nothing really complicated or in depth, I've always kind of wanted to try my hand at it.  And with 1000 lines of music ahead of me, I can get a bit of a start. LOL

Well, only a comparatively small amount of people are renowned for their compositions. Best of luck though.

I don't plan to get renown, just enjoyment...and maybe a fun song or two.  Who knows, maybe I'll get ambitious and actually develop a good idea.

Go for it.

Make sure to write in a good mellotron solo.

Alright, I'll go for it.  Can't guarantee anything about the mellotron though, I'm thinking of writing something drum and bass heavy which is sung in a made up language. Evil Smile  Or something Canterburian.  I just realized, I have no idea how to write music for drums.  I suppose I'll just have [insert awesome drummer here] come up with something fitting.

Nevermind, Steven Wilson didn't know how to program drums on Up the Downstair, and it is my favourite album ever.

Jesus, Person, you're even more of a f**kup than me. At least I know when I'm taking an exam!

I hate bass clef! But I play piano, so it's not the same for me. OH, you could write a piece for me and I could play it and put it on Youtube! As long as it's not too fast, I'm not very good...

Dvorak writes a good cello concerto.

Has anybody read anything about Mendelsohn? He depresses me, because at 17 he was writing pieces that are more effective than any art I will ever produce.

Argh, I have to read an article about Bill Gates!

I'm going to bed now, I need to be rested for class tomorrow. Also, I am really starting to like Firefly.

I didn't know when the exam was because my instructor messed with the schedule, it was his fault in the first place; he was late for class one day and most people left, so it through off the schedule. I was expecting a test over material I haven't studied(in this class, I already did it in high school) but he gave a take home test last week when I was sick.

I will probably Netflix Firefly eventually, but Joss Whedon's fans are extremely annoying so I don't really want to.

I see that there's a "Best of" CD for Leonard Nemoy and William Shatner.  That must be wonderful and well-performed music.

Vague familiarity with Mendelsohn. Like Mozart, he annoys me because he sounds happy.

Lol, this article is from TIME and is all about Microsoft developing something to access the internet and other content on a TV and worrying about Netscape developing their own OS. Technology articles from a decade ago never seem to really pan out.

What, Mendelsohn isn't happy!

The year he takes over the world, or just surpasses Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.

Quote 2010 will be a landmark year for John Zorn who promises 12 new CD releases-one every month! Included will be new music from The Dreamers, Moonchild and Alhambra, 3 new releases in The Book of Angels series, a major new studio composition dedicated to the Korean-American writer Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, a classical release featuring his acclaimed violin concerto Contes des Fées, the DVD release of his opera with Richard Foreman ASTRONOME, a ripping improvised duo recording with Fred Frith and undoubtedly several surprises. Most of the recordings are already completed and the release schedule set, so keep your eyes and ears open and expect a new Zorn release every 4th Tuesday of the month in 2010!

I now see I'm obviously the last to find that out.
