First time listening to John Zorn.

I'm sorry...but what the f**k is this?
Which one are you listening to?
John Zorn Kristallnacht album cover

First track was pretty good, but the second track is eleven minutes of noise- literal noise.  Almost no music involved.

Now I want to hear it.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaah

Yes, Rob, acurate observation. It's noise. Geek
Last time John Cage was around, noise became part of music.

A damn fine noise track, if I could say so.

(You should have asked for directions re: Zorn, like David did.

Yes, and I'll be damned if I'd ever want to pay for a John Cage performance.  Ermm

On second thought, four minutes and thirty-three seconds of silence around this house would be quite nice right about now.  Stern Smile

4'33 isn't about silence. Wink

I was just about to say that I thought 4'33" was about ambient noise.

That's only because it has never been performed live perfectly.  Tongue

I don't know if there is such a thing as perfect silence. Also, I like Frith's bass playing.

Unfortunately, Masada are too good at it for me to agree with you.

I've been outside at night after a nice snowfall and experienced a perfect silence.  It doesn't work well during the day because of snowblowers and such.  But it beats a summer night which is filled with the sounds of crickets, and mosquitos buzzing in your ears.  First thing in the morning works too, before all of the snowblowers start up.

Robert, you picked the wrong Zorn album to start with. LOL

Go with something he's done this year. I imagine you would enjoy that a lot more than Kristallnacht.

Having heard O'o (Anybody know how to say that?) and what I've read about his output from this year, among a few of the other things I've heard from him, I can confidently say that the man makes actual music on some albums. Wink

Thank God you didn't land on Locus Solus, First Recordings, New Traditions In East Asian Bar Bands, I.A.O., etc.
