LOL

I have never heard a complete ACDC album, let alone own one. That is not a bad thing.

Ditto. It's like porno films. You've seen one, you've seen you want to see them all.

Fixed that for ya.  Approve

Yes I do own BIB.  I also own High Voltage, Dirty Deeds, Let There Be Rock and Highway To Hell.  I prefer Bon to Brian.

Back in Black is a great rock album.  This is undisputed.  Much of AC/DC's Bon Scott-era output is also great rock music.  In regard to the poll, some 14 million people bought BiB, maybe more (I have not seen recent numbers).  Certainly a few of them are around these parts.

The good songs on it are good, the others are typical AC/DC riff-fests.  I've never really been able to accommodate Brian Johnson's voice.  That's okay, it's still a good album.  I have a remastered version.  That's the one I use to evaluate the performance of any set of speakers.  If You Shook Me All Night Long has the correct bottom, while keeping the empty space, it's a good set of speakers.

I think also Whole Lotta Rosie also is a good test for the correct bottom.

No, I really don't care about AC/DC and I dislike their music

0:00 through say 0:30 of You Shook Me All Night Long is as powerful as a rhythm section gets.  Not saying it's up there with the first few minutes of Heart of the Sunrise, but it is for visceral rock it's good enough.  And that's with no bass.

Bon Scott era AC/DC is great. His lyrics were clever and witty and loaded with double entendres, and his voice was gritty and dirty and unique.Albums like Powerage,Let There Be Rock and Highway To Hell are essential albums for any rock n roll fan.

Agreed. I think it's too simple for people round these parts, if you know what i mean. Wink

Yes I do. Very good album. But I do listen more "Ballbreaker", which I prefer. More bluesy maybe, excellent production (the 90's, just before entering the loudness war), and almost a perfect album (only one song is less interesting)

Of course!  this is a classic must have album.  Sure, you get tired of hearing those songs over and over, but come on, it's a landmark album.  give it a break for a while, then go back to it to appreciate it again.

it's in my collection along with all the other AC/DC albums.

Perhaps demonstrating how little of an AC/DC fan I am, when I saw the thread title I thought it was asking about that Amy Winehouse album that was big a few years ago!

As for AC/DC, I really can't see the appeal.  I've been hearing them all my life via various friends, on the radio etc. (I listen to Planet Rock, a UK 'classic rock' station, fairly regularly and they are always on it).  They bore me to tears. I have exactly the same reaction to them as I have to Status Quo. It's like they have a template and they stick to it. No variation, no light and shade, exactly the same formula time after time.

(I wish this was the actual footage from the tv special, but instead it's a lame slideshow.  Still, you get the idea.)

Nope, I haven't got a copy. I don't know whether I'll end up getting one or not... maybe if I see it for cheap somewhere.

They used bagpipes once. If figure if you're going to transcend your self-imposed mold, you might as well do it with bagpipes.

I actually own 2 copies of Back in Black.  I already owned one, and then when I bought the AC/DC Box Set it came with a second rendition of Back in Black.
