I quit.

I hate it when a great game has a glaring flaw that makes it no fun to play.

For example, this poker game would be almost perfect...

...yet if you lose that week's tournament (whichever one you chose- there are multiple games to play on a given week in career mode), you

HAVE TO PLAY THE SAME f**kING WEEK AGAIN.

What is this?

GROUNDHOG DAY?

For those of you too young to have seen it

http://mommylife.net/archives/2009/02/02/groundhog_day.jpg

Anyway, in real life, the next week happens, regardless of how bad you lose in a poker game.

The whole concept of having to repeat the same thing over and over again can be good or bad. There is an X-File like that, I think it was called "Monday". But I think it's stupid when applied to games.

I'm going to bed now.

I swear to God though...

...if I wake up and it's December 3rd, I can guarantee you I will not be posting in any religious threads here.

sh*t.

Well, good night.  Wink

By the way, after a woman has a baby, you can't have sex for like 6 weeks.  Well, not with her anyway, but you get the main idea.

Empty can.

G'night.

90% of the items on Think Geek make me extremely angry. I have many problems with "nerd culture".

Yeah, it's mostly useless crap, but they have some stuff that is pure awesome. It would be cool to have a band that plays their t-shirts though, if only for the novelty.

The biggest problem is nerds' sense of humor. The sickening mix of memes, references, and graphs infuriates me.

This year has been a big year in jazz for me. I've found lots of great stuff.

I recently discovered two new albums that look interesting: Bill Dixon's Tapestries for Small Orchestra (he used to play with Cecil Taylor) and Joe Lovano's Folk Art (he played sax on Zorn's Stolas, I assume because John was trying to reach out to a broader audience, and this is a quintet with two drummers).

I discovered that I love avant/free jazz this year, so that was nice.

Incidentally, I discovered the Iranian album I was talking about is on last.fm, so I downloaded Aranis instead.

Yeah, but I already downloaded that one from eMusic. I don't believe in using last.fm as a substitute for buying something, I only listen to things to see if I'll like them.

It isn't even useful to use as a substitute, unless you go to the trouble of recording/downloading the mp3s, too much trouble even if I was that big of a cheapskate.

Mmm... I'll have to check those out along with that Iranian Percussion album.

If Last.fm had a decent player that let me play them all in order instead of having to click each track individually, that would be one thing.

These Joe Lovano samples are really good. How about another 2009 album that I could put on the list...

Last.fm used to be like that. I hate artificial limitations.

This Binary Universe sounds like a good idea.

I've been using Myspace more and more as a place to check out new artists/albums.  They've got a much bigger variety of prog than I had hoped or expected, still not everything but they're impressive enough.

Almost anyone who has released an album in the last 10 years has a Myspace with samples.

The Iranian Percussion wasn't as good as I was hoping, but I only listened to the first two tracks and I may not have been in the mood. I'm glad last.fm was there to sate my thirst for it, though.

I also watched part 9 of Ken Burns' Jazz, it was pretty boring. I guess the format of playing extended clips of the songs over pictures of the performers works when it's the 40s and the listener has never heard them before, but I've already heard Blue Train, you don't need to play it that long.

I was at Borders because they gave my employer a 25% off coupon, and I've completely given up on them as a source of music. They had BROKENCYDE, who aren't even on a major label! Yet, I couldn't find a regular copy of At Fulsom Prison, or any copies of Giant Steps, Blue Train, Ornette Coleman, or even a Bjork album besides Volta. However, I will admit, the title of their album made me laugh.

Listening now. Sounds pretty good. Ever heard Anouar Brahem? Oud player who released a really good album entitled The Astounding Eyes of Rita this year. Includes a bass clarinet and darbouka.

Some samples here since his myspace is sorely lacking.

Little info on the album.

I think I need to get some Kraftwerk.  I'm listening to The Man Machine on myspace now, I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, I saw you and Rico talking about that earlier. I have to make a choice to either just give in and buy like 20 2009 albums and have a super awesome list, or just give up on the damn list and abstain because peer pressure is a retarded reason to buy albums.
