Avatars are basically our faces.  Changing yours means we cannot readily see who is talking (we have to look at the name).

I personally prefer stagnation.  Wink

Then people change their names and it is heart breaking (RIP Natural Science, cacho, prog296546521065465465123540 or whatever that jerk's name used to be).

I'll pretend it is. LOL

Good vocals on it, fwiw. and it feels all proggy 'n' crap.

Well, it has Jon Olivia in it and he was in Savatage, who are a prog metal band. So if it's not full-blown prog, it's prog by association. LOL

Savatage is actually one of my favorite metal bands ever. If you don't have their album "Streets: A Rock Opera", you're missing out on a lotWink

Their early stuff is pure heavy/power metal, but later on they incorporated some prog and symphonic metal leanings. Once Jon Oliva was no longer the vocalist and was replaced by Zac Stevens, their music was almost complete symphonic metal with little hair metal leanings.

Well, there's your history lesson. There will be a quiz tomorrow to see what you've learnedTongueBig smile

-Jeff

I have Hall of the Mountain King through Edge of Thorns. Of those 4, Streets is probably my least favorite to be honest. I'd say I like EoT or Hall the most.

Rob, I can recognize you from distance, through thick fog, given the font of the text.

Well...I've only heard it a handful of times...but...good lord:

I almost didn't bother getting this based on the bio and the two reviews of it.  Geezus (as Harry would say) I'm really glad I did.

As of right now, it's my symphonic album of the year for sure.

It helps me know if someone is responding to me after I'm in the cups.  Approve

*jawdrop*

Well, it is a whole lot better than the double-album deliriously phantasy-driven debut.
So it's good.

It wasn't cheap though...and I don't know what drew me to it.  I guess I bought it out of desperate disappointment of symphonic prog this year...so much in that genre has sucked.  Plus, I was intrigued by the artwork and the song titles.

I am expecting The Whirlwind to come in soon though...and when I get it...I'll...*searches for something clever to say*...I'll "give it a whirl."  Wink

I should change my avatar to a prog album that isn't very well known. Maybe Close to the Edge by Yes?

Overall, I simply ended up on the appreciated side.

Nonetheless, my symph/neo chart is still a mess, by another listen I'll definitely sort out the seeds and the weeds.

Despite my genre specialty tag, you know how I feel about the modern Symphonic scene in general. It hardly interests me.

But I may have to check that one out.

BAH, NO! Angry

Yours is one of my favorite avatars around here. Plus, as Robert was saying, I heavily associate people with their avatars and when they change them it REALLY bothers me.

Embarrassed

But really, I haven't been enjoying Yes lately.
