Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought they were playing a love/hate thing fairly straight from the beginning.

No Rico, Chase marries Cameron, what we are talking about his House trying to keep Chase and Cameron on the team since they were going to leave (for reasons that would be SPOILER).

Man, House/Cuddy just gets more and more dramatic.
