I think Celtic Frost is the only band mentioned there that I've heard. I barely remember what they sound like though. Oh, and Napalm Death. But again, neither is really punk. Edited by birdwithteeth11 - November 30 2009 at 23:14 |

I should have too. Now it is too late and I should be in bed. I'm watching Stargate Universe though.

Celtic Frost is brilliant. Well, at least their last album Monotheist is, that's one of my favourite metal albums. Very slow, heavy and dark. I'm not so much into their thrashier 80s classics, but they're ok too.

Probably the most pointlessly depressing show I've watched in a long time.

Someone needs to trip and break the damn stones so they can only be used during a solar flare or something silly like that. At least Atlantis waited a season or two before reneging on the premise of them being completely alone, but they only waited an episode! If you can go back to the earth, listen to Janelle Monae at a bar, and bang your lesbian lover, you're not really alone. I guess in some sense they were trapped by the stone's incredibly stupid body switching ability (how is it possible to flip back and forth when they're not close to the box? Wouldn't the stones disconnecting just leave them in that body?) because they threw that in as a zany twist to make the Atlantis episode more entertaining, but they could have handwaved that by saying the distance makes them audio only. If zat guns can disintigrate someone in three shots in one episode and then never do that again, I'm sure they could have figured something out.
But I guess they wanted this to be a teen sex drama.
Did you enjoy seeing Chloe die twice in Time as much as I did? I was really disappointed that both of them were resets. One of the writers had a little rant on his blog about people complaining about the sex and terribleness of the show. It seems he's offended that I call Lt James 2nd Lt. Tits McGee after the kino spying shot.
BTW, the Kino webisodes are all on Youtube now, which is nice since Hulu is sort of annoying, but they're also very boring, and seeing the description of what happens ruins any sort of entertainment one could glean from them since the whole joke is, for example, that this scientist is working on making a banana flavoring for their food.
I don't know how you can find something that was so stupid depressing. But maybe I ask too many questions when I'm watching something.

The random sex/nude scenes are absolutely pointless. Am I the only one who has noticed only females have been shown in the shower? I was hoping for a show that was on par with the first episode, or at least something scifi-ish. Instead I get to watch a soap opera. Also, what is up with killing everyone and then bringing them back to life the next episode? That takes the whole nobody-dies-in-scifi trope to a new level. Twice in one show! And the stones are stupid. I don't want to see someone's drunk girlfriend. What difference does it make to the plot, other than the fact that they wasted an entire episode? |

No, Time was a good episode. Everybody dying in an alternate timeline has been featured in countless SG-1 and Atlantis episodes, and it's only right that they continue the tradition for Universe. The mechanics were a bit dodgy, since I am pretty sure solar flares vary in intensity, and the snake venom thing was too much of a coincidence, but otherwise it was the first episode that actually felt like an episode of Stargate. People shot things! The problem is that the way the show is mostly functioning, this ship might as well just have a ring platform. And that's not what Stargate is about!
Character development is deep, that's why. Even if it's character development of characters we don't care about! We got Furious George to have a little more depth, now all we need is Tits McGee to get a sob story. Edited by Henry Plainview - December 01 2009 at 00:45 |

Time was a good episode, but the immediate switch to a different storyline in Life made me dizzy. I did like the fact that they interacted with the environment instead of the main motivation being "Hurry up or die". I think Eli's acting on Time is my favorite performance from the entire series so far. |

I just discovered that I'm a huge fan of bad singers singing emotionally. Somehow they seem to capture the emotion better than good singers, because they don't have the technical capability, but instead rely on intensity. I don't know, weird discovery...

^Any examples on that?
I don't know if they count, but I'm a huge fan of for example Michael Stipe and Matt Berninger just because of that reason.

Urgh, I hate that Dale, that's whole problem with punk rock. You can't make up for being terrible by being really enthusiastic!
Person, when you are awake again, consider in Season 8 of SG-1 the progression of Full Alert, Citizen Joe, and Reckoning. I think that's worse, especially considering that in the final timeline the Universe crew didn't have to actually do anything. :P

I think Matt Berninger is a great singer, but I do get your point. And yeah I'm a huge fan of him. My examples: A Silver Mt. Zion Tom Waits Clap Your Hands Say Yeah |

Tom Waits singing any way is good for me, not only emotionally.
