Number 7 was a fantastic album in my opinion, but it is definately a grower.

I reviewed Doomsday Afternoon and gave it a five. It is to date only one of two Crossover albums to receive that mark.
Chupacabras is a solid four star album.
Number Seven is not as good as these, but not bad.

Read my review if you want to know what I really thought of it. I've really grown away from music that tries too hard to sound progressive or replicate something that has already been done, and that album is easily the one I've heard the most guilty of that ever. IMO, true progressive music doesn't try to match anything that's been done before; it naturally develops.

What's the other Xover album to get 5 stars?

There would be a third album in Crossover to get five stars if Steve Walsh hadn't included crappy "early 90s sounding" songs on Glossolalia.

I haven't given any album in Crossover 5 stars. Except Amarok, which ironically is extremely eclectic.

Wonder if the Riverside guys are into Final Fantasy. The opening to Rainbow Box before the distorted guitar comes in sounds like it could be straight from FFVII. Especially that one piano chord is very Uematsu.

Given that the only strong alternative is Three Sides Live, I guess I'll have to agree.
