Didn't you recently make the poll or a post asking which would be the best starting point?  I feel like you'd probably enjoy some of their material.

I made a poll regarding bands I'd never heard.

But right now I am strapped for cash, so I won't be buying any new albums for a bit.  Maybe Santee Claus will be good to me.  Smile

I see you're on a Dennis DeYoung marathon.  You know, his is a voice I really don't like much.

Nope, no marathon.  I only have 2 albums from him.  Hmm, I thought that you might like some Styx since their commercial phase is similar to that of your favorite band not named Epignosis and named after a U.S. State.  At times his voice is too theatrical for my tastes, especially on his solo work, but for the most part I like his voice.

I don't see too much similarities between Styx and Kansas to be honest.

I really like The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight.

I really like The Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight.
Midwest American band that flirted with prog in their earlier days, but found success after a couple of albums with non-prog songs and eventually settled into the American version of prog known as AOR.  Most of the times these bands are criticized for their inclusion on PA, or hated by PA denizens because of their commercial success, whilst these same haters are mostly totally unaware of their progressive pasts.

Amazing music ruined by some of the worst vocals I've ever heard.
