Ah yeah, I suppose I could have posted that here as well...ah well, the random discussion thread learned this a few hours ago, several of us have ordered it already. A big thanks to Wayside for making it available to us Americans for an acceptable price.

Woah, while I'm not a zheul fan, but reviews like these get me interested in this album, especially since I gave "K.A." a try and found the songwriting to be masterful.

Shoop. There goes thirty dollars. I kept telling myself I'd wait for a cheaper release, but I suck at that sort of thing. Looking forward to it! Anyone know how long it takes to ship? Should I expect it before Thanksgiving week (in the US)?

You should get it before Thanksgiving. I ordered mine yesterday and it's already shipped. So it'll be here within a few days. |

Sweet deal.
For those that have listened to it, are the separate parts of the title track, well, clearly separated like on KA, or are they one large piece divided into tracks for ease (a la The Whirlwind)? |

Listening to my copy now. It's one track divided up. |

Cool. They do long form pretty well, I'd say. Although, I don't find KA to be one track at all. It's very separated to my ears.

Listening to
Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré for the first time was honestly one of the best hours I spent this entire year listening to new music.

Everywhere, I hear extremely positive comments. Every one of the 13 ratings in here are 5-stars and even in 'rateyourmusic' , it manages a strong rating.
It's very expensive tho, I wish they could leave an option with the CD alone and charge $15. |

So I've listened to it fairly thoroughly and I find that I don't like it as much as K.A., not nearly as much, but it is definitely in their top 5 compositions ever. It would have overtaken K.A, but unfortunately there were too many filler tracks (tracks 1, 4, 5, and 6) Only 2 and 3 are worth listening to more than twice because the rest are pretty much just there to add atmosphere. Track 1 I would claim as a partial exception to this, however it is on it's own just a decent track and I've been constantly skipping over it because I'm impatient and want to get to the bulk of the album. Tracks 2 and 3 are amazing, though possibly a step below K.A. as a whole, otherwise as it stands those two are probably their second best effort ever.

Tracks 1 and 4 filler? I don't get that at all. I consider those to be essential parts of "Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê". As good as "E-Re II" is, it wouldn't be as good without "E-Re I"'s lead in, and "E-Re III" wouldn't be as good without it leading into "E-Re IV". I love the transitions and contrasts and always prefer to listen to all of the "E-Re" "suite". I quite often have skipped the last five minutes of the album (those last two tracks), but they don't distract from the rest of the music anyway (parts 1-4 of "Ëmëhntëhtt-Rê") and I treat those last ones as a sort of epilogue. |

Well they are still parts of the main composition, but it's like listening to MDK and then the very last track fades into a high pitched tone. It's really a great way to end the album because it adds so much tension AND resolution at the same time, but in the end, who wants to hear that tone for the whole duration? It's annoying and possibly bad for your ears. Track 4 is kind of like this because it ends the tension from track 3. I'm judging a bit quickly though since it's a really hard work to digest so perhaps after listening to the whole thing from start to finish again it'll make sense.

Finally got my copy a few days ago. After the first few listens it hasn't grabbed me in the way K.A.did. I think I'm still struggling to recontextualise all the familiar material. Despite the excellent arrangements part of me keeps thinking "well that bit's from Attahk and that's from Udu Wudu" and so on. K.A. had the advantage of being completely new material.
