Wow. So Mono and Maserati were incredible. Maserati's drummer is incredibly good. Mono killed it and such. Setlist:

Ashes in the Snow
Burial at Sea
Follow the Map
Pure as Snow
Yearning
The Battle to Heaven
Moonlight
Everlasting Light

What did you think of the new Maserati material?

Pretty good. I don't think any of it really stood out as particularly incredible and it didn't seem too different from their old stuff, but it sounded good and I'm looking forward to hearing the new recording when it comes out.

So I've been listening to Nadja, and I love the towering walls of feedback in Radiance of Shadows, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the length. Maybe if you're driving in the snow it would be awesome. Is there any band that has a similar intensity of noise, but faster and with less repetition?

@ Henry. . .

mmm. possibly. Its hard to get that level of droney feed back without the length at times. nadja's "sin turns to glass release has 3-4 songs at around 14 mintutes a piece which is managable IMO. not as good as some of their other stff but you win some you lose some.

Have you tried f**k Buttons? hard to miss if you read pitchfork or are into the indie scene but they've got a lot of post rock / noise /  drone elements to them. not sure how good of a recomendation taht is though. ill dig thorugh my drone catelogue and pull something out for you tomorrow.

I still sort of enjoy Nadja albums, but I went to see them live and they were incredibly disappointing.  Given their recordings, I expected a wall of amplifiers and tons of deafening feedback, but all they had was a drum machine, two guitars, and a folding table full of effects pedals plugged straight into the PA.  Consequently, they sounded really weak.

I'd definitely love some recommendations for similar stuff, the only thing I know of is The Angelic Process.

The F*ck buttons are excellent. They opened up for Mogwai last year and almost made sort of a romantic feel about their music. Check them out Chris.

Also, given your appreciation for Jesu, I'd expect that you've listened to J Broadricks side project Final, no?

Whoa, new The Morningside. Gotta check that out.

So guys, i thought this was an excellent version of the "Ghost Key" -  (it only plays in HD)

The album version sounds so over edited that it almost reminds me of some hip hop anthem.

So Mono was pretty good, I liked how the noisy build upsjust kept on getting noisier, trumping the album songs. I with they had a little more energy/were more interactive with the crowd. Seemed like the crowd was almost stagnant last night, and they didnt do a lot to stimulate it.

All and all pretty good though, Maserati was a little boring, but Mono was really fun.

I didn't like the new Morningside on my first listen. I'll keep trying obviously.
