How about this . . .
I just bought Octobre's and Garolou's compilation CDs, as well as Cano's 2 CDs. I've ordered lots from ProgQuebec (Sloche, Morse Code, Contraction, Conventum, etc), which should be here shortly! This is great stuff . . . I especially love the material from Octobre's "Les Nouvelles Terres" album. Boy I feel like a wide-eyed, wonder-filled noob again!
And by the way . . . I've had Sloche's "J'un Oiel" on the Tachika CD for a while--great album--but I'm buying the proper version now that it's out. Just so you don't think that no one who bought the "pirated" version will buy the official one.

Wow, that's all some good stuff!
I just wrote Beau Dommage's bio, now they're on PA in Prog Related. I'm now adding all their albums!
After that I'll also write Péloquin-Sauvageau's bio, and they'll be added too
And thanks to Todd, this thread was dying in agony

Have you tried Maneige???? These guys top them akk uin my eyes
Opus-5 and Et Cetera are also very worthy.

In the Mriodor genre and tims-space (late 80's - early 90's) , who remembers the all-girls group Wondeur Brass (2 albums in 85 & 87) and its continuation Justine (two albums in 91 and 93)? .....
excellent Avant-prog and RIO

Et Cetera is amazing, really similar to Gentle Giant. Maneige's Les Porches is one of the best Québecois albums of all time.
I don't know thoso two Québecois RIO bands, Wondeur Brass and Justine, but I'm really appreciating RIO music, so I'll have to check them! Thanks for the suggestion Hugues!

I'll include thetwo groups i,n thecoming weeks
I thinkk all of their output was on the outstanding Ambience Magnetique label that released so much unconventional music.
Wondeur brass is a mix of Miriodor and EtronFou Le Loublan.

At Todd: That' a GREAT collection you got here! In others that may fit the RPQ classification, you should get some Offenbach and some Robert Charlebois (particularly Robert Charlebois avec Louise Forestier and Québec Love and the album with Fu Man Chu on it... I don't remember its name) At Hugues: That's great! I love both Miriodor and Étron Fou Leloublan, so I'm pretty intrigued Wondeur Brass. I'll check them as soon as I can (if you have any samples, would you please PM me?) Gabriel

a note on Etcetera, the Gentle Giant comparison is good, but I would add that they are a mellower Giant, more akin to Power & the Glory era sound. And if you love Maneige, You may like Leitmotiv. The best part of this recommendation - you can listen to their music for free (legally) - and then decide how much you're going to give. as for missing RPQ from your list , Todd - Le Match (imagine Garolou with a more medieval sound), Jelly Fiche (Sean's review is pretty good. Though I find them run of the mill prog), Breche. There are two that aren't yet at PA - Eclipse ( http://rapidshare.com/files/147330461/Eclipse-s.t.-Canada-1976.zip.html) - "Vision Interieur" sounds like a Floyd outtake from WIsh you were Here; "Pleine Lune" , Eloy meets Hawkwind; Le Reve de John W." is a late 70s fusion piece; "La Derniere Fois" could pass a Matha & the Muffins doing an early Beatles tune, "TAime (Voix) & T'Aime (Moog) are spacey one minute fillers; "Qu'attends-tu de Moi" is 70s Quebec pop rack radio fare" ; and "Pensee pour Barbara / Honey #38" is a spacey piece that I can't compare except to the Echo Era Floyd or early Eloy. (submitted to Eclectic tonight)

Of the current Quebecois groups I enjoy Talisma, Kaos Moon, Daniel Gauthier (who should be here). I also enjoy Orealis, who recorded in the 90s.
You should try Capharnaum, what a great album they put out (Le soleil est une bombe atomique)

Thanks Hugues! I appreciate very much your suggestions. The vinyl will be hard to come by . . . perhaps there will be more repressings for bands like Dionysos, Ungava, etc?

Mundi Domini... Another band I'll have to check. Think I'll start a list Interférence Sardines is great! If I knew them a year ago, I could've seen them I don't particularly appreciate Morse Code's Transmission I and Transmission II but their artworks are beautiful!

Well the early Dyonisos albums have been bootlegged, which is probably why ProgQuebec is not in hurry to attack the first two albums, the next two (legit released) being a lot less interesting (but then again Sloche was also bootlegged but they did them anyway)
The guys from ProgQuebec have just called it quits for further FMPM organization, to concentrate more on the reissues....
Who knows??
Ungava, Nébu, Le Match are in the pipelines soon????

You said ProgQuébec was quitting the Montréal's Progressive Music Festival's organisation. Not that the Festival wouldn't exist... I mean, ProgressiveEars and Progresson will still handle the Festival, won't they?
