"Album" is my favourite because it doesn't differentiate between an LP, CD, SACD, cassette, ipod, etc. etc....
In the very early days of recording and record manufacture, the discs they used were 78's, only several minutes long per side, so a symphony by Beethoven took about eight or maybe ten discs to get all the music on - these were stored in a large book package resembling a photo album - hence "Album"
The introduction of the 33 1/3 rpm Long Player must have been a relief...

Album. In Finnish I might also use the word "levy" (=disc), but in English it seems a bit too concrete.

Release is a good word if you don't know what type of release it is (on my website I use it in headings for lists that might contain anything from studio album to blu-ray disc). For studio albums I think the word "album" is best.

I'm disappointed by the fact that there aren't many words we can use. Imagine if you're an editor on PA, you may see the word "album" 500 times a day. Oh, sad.

I would use "records" instead of "vinyls" ... but it's not a particularly good word either.

Records is fine, vinyls is used as a badge of superiority these days. We never, ever called them that. In the old days.
