I always am surprised more people are not injured or killed at the Rallies as well.  I'm speaking mostly of the crowd who stand on the side of road.

Anyhow... Renault have got away with it.  How can they not get punished more?  McLaren's actions were far less severe and they got bummed.

IRL is going in the right direction racing on more road and street courses.... not only for safety, but also to create more variety, like 90's CART

Agreed 100%

And James, I know what you mean. That's why I would watch Rally in awe...I can not believe the skill involved to just not die.
The people standing on the road to take a picture and step away right before it passes always freaked me out as well.

I've seen the late Colin McRae roll over several times in his Impreza and walk away without a scratch.  The cars are reinforced well.  However, the general public are not.

Yep the skill of them is amazing and this is why some of their drivers have done well at The Race of Champions.

Saddly I here of spectators and/or drivers killed in rally accidents at international level (but not necasserally WRC) 2 or 3 times a year. Theres only so much protection that you can give someone when they hit a tree side on and the side stoves in on them.

Undoubtedly they are highly skilled, but it helps that the RoC follows a rally format, though the indoor tarmac tracks in arenas recently has helped give the racers an leg up.

On a related note, it seems increasingly likely that Sebastien Loeb will make his F1 debut in Abu Dhabi this November for Torro Rosso. I kid you not. He's also looking at the possibility of doing a part season in F1 next year combined with a final season of WRC before a full time switch to F1. I really hope this comes off as it willbe quite interesting to say the least.

I have been wondering when Loeb would do so.
The adjustment must be pretty nuts though, going from Rally to F1

Random note: Juan Pablo Montoya! He's in the chase for the championship and finished 3rd in the first race. If JPM was to win the title, I dont even know what Id do

Big accident in Nascar five minutes ago at Dover. Joey Logana was rolling his car seven times. In total four cars are now heading for the scrapyard. Joey Logano and the three other victims survived without any injury. None of the Chase drivers was involved, although Tony Stewart tapped into Joey Logano and may have started it. It was a spectacular crash, well worth checking out.

Scary, but that's Nascar.

Edit: Joey Logano's words after the release from the Dover medical centre 15 minutes later was "this was scary". No kidding..........

No Glock for this weekends Brazilian GP, its been discovered that in his Qualy crash in Japan he fractured a vertebrae, so Kamui Kobayashi will make his GP debut.

Massa has had his first test in an F1 car today as well (F2007 on GP2 spec rubber), good to see him back behind the wheel.

JPM is still in the running for the chase. I'm not sure where he is, last time I heard he was in 3rd and closing in still on the points leader. He's been impressive this year, and has been running great and faultless during the chase.
Gunna have to win one or two though to have a legit shot at the title.

I'm pulling for JPM or Mark Martin. It'd be great to see him get a championship

Not too shabby, but he needs a win at least, two would be better.
But hey, looks like his transition is finally complete.

Actually that might not be right anymore as there was another race at the weekend I think, wont know the results till Thursday myself (dont care enough to go looking around the net for it). Still, he's doing excellent considering he's not in one of the really big teams.

Indeed. Not to mention JPM still hasn't lost his color.
AH! Can't find it....
But he was slated to go till 5:00 taking questions. The moment it came, he got up and started leaving, even though the next reporter was asking him to stay...got right up and left. Before he got up even said with a smile, "alright...5:01"

LOLLOL

Love that guy

Well missed the last 3 races, but it appears Button is still leading and all but has the title in his hands (famous last words??)

The results didn't really surprise me.
Well, hopefully it'll be a good last 2 races.

Well.....he tried his best to blow it, but not even Button could give up a lead THAT huge!

Wink

Nah, an F1 championship is an F1 championship, and NO ONE could get a consistent good run all season long.
Kudos to what Brawn has done.
Congrats to Button!!
After a long career of questioning his talent, and his mind, and getting usurped by Lewis Hamilton he did manage to get that title that so many predicted.

Clap

That a boy Button! Even though he hasn't been the best of late he did deserve the championship. What a year of F1 it was...and theres still a GP to go!

Congrats to both Button and Brawn GP. What a showing this year, and hopefully they can keep it going next year to get Reubens that championship. TongueBig smile
