Ok,  now this is pretty darn good. Nice find Jody.

They kinda remind me of Isis, when Isis's sounds like something that i like. :D

Excellent band, and super nice guys (see my post a couple pages back about playing a show with them)... actually the singer wasn't all that nice but I had some beers with the dude from Electric Wizard and the girl who plays cello.
But aside from that, yes they are tight live and sound a lot (sometimes too much) like Pink Floyd, but there's definitely lots of good prog influence.  "Burnt Reynolds" is like my jam of the year.  That song just rules.
However, we did jokingly refer to them as Shriveled Black Penis Wink

Sweet that you got to play a show with them; i agree that sometimes they can sound scandalously too similar to Pink Floyd, but i forgive them Big smile

I'm not much of an Electric Wizard fan, but i sure enjoy the style that their percussionist employs with CBP.

So, while checking out the prog archives top 100 of '09 just now, i couldn't help but feel that Post Rock/Metal has made quite a mark (unusually so) thus far this year.

Although, It's kinda sad to see that Wavering Radiant is dropping so rapidly in rank. (even considering that i'm still not enjoying it too much)

Speaking of Isis, I've been on a massive Isis kick lately.
Honestly, Wavering Radiant is holding as much weight as the first few times I've heard it, it's down to about an 8/10 for me now.
I've found for me personally, nothing from their catalogue has more staying power than Oceanic. I found myself unable to get sick of it, but I can't listen to Panopticon as often.

Sweet  Clap

Although, for some reason we're still lacking classic post rock/math rock bands like "The Six Parts Seven" & "Pele"

Quote And So I Watch You From Afar

they'll be playing in Kiev in November, along with Maybeshewill. Damn, I missed the opportunity to join them on stage as a support act Same sh!t with Jeniferever (also playing in Kiev this November) - another band got involved as a supporting one before I even tried to offer KROBAK instead

How do you guys like the blue album? I'm not at home to upload it but I've heard that it's pretty different.

Interesting, Wavering Radiant has held it's weight, and even gained some. I may eventually rate it 10/10 (as opposed to its current 9.5). I think the band really hit their sonic stride here. The tones of every instrument on this one are simply incredible. That combined with the great songwriting & performing, replete with some of the band's sweetest grooves and hooks, makes it their best for me. I would say that Oceanic, Panopticon and In the Absence of Truth are all 9+/10 albums though.

Well, Ahleuchatistas has a sample from their new album up on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/ahleuchatistas

This new drummer just doesn't gel with them like their last one did. RIP. Super bummed.

They have no business recording with a new drummer, IMO.

Based on the samples, I like the new drummer more, even though he sounds like Zach Hill. But I could never get into old Ahleuchatistas at all. It seemed like math rock by numbers.

if you own a sodastream i hate you

Wow!  you never liked old Ahleuchatistas?  Their early stuff is better/more avant than newer stuff.... it's more raw and frazzled.... love them!

What happened to the old drummer?

^ lol, i was thinking the same; they've forged some of the tightest grooves around imo, and i felt like they were getting better with every album.

Anyways, when a power trio losses a member, it's pretty much like losing half the band. Their new drummer reminds me of Zach Hill as well. (not a good thing regarding my tastes)
