Excellent race by Rubens, probably the best drive I've seen from him since Silverstone 2003.
Badoer was a farce, the man doesnt bellong anyware near a GP.

Clearly I missed something, enlighten me as to why Schumi didn't race, and was this is a one time thing or will he not get back into a ride after all?

He had a motorcycle crash not too long ago and his injuries have not sufficiently healed enough for him to drive. I think they fear his neck may get damaged with all the Gee Force.

James has effectively got it. He had a testing crash at Cartagena in Spain in February on his Superbike (he was getting ready to compete in the German Superbike Championship this year). He actually had serious ingeries that only really came to lite in the last couple of weeks. In effect his neck muscels havnt fully recovered and he just cant take the loads that F1 cars generate. However, doctors recjon its a case of when, and not if, he will be ready to race again. Badoer still has the drive for Spa this weekend, but I wouldnt be that surprised to see Michael in at Monza, a track I reckon Ferrari will do very well at with the KERS system.

Yes, I think if Ferrari had not used kers Giancarlo Fisichella would have won....
Perhaps he's the next Ferrari driver? ^ ^

yeah, i've also heard those rumours, though i frankly believe they are far from being true.
First no-point race for Button, he still has a considerable advantage, but I'm starting to think that if his bad results continue, then he may lose the virtual title.

Yeah, the only thing as impressive as Button's start is his current downslide. And I thought the last 2 seasons were nuts, and this one was just madness but a Force India on pole? And finished in second???  This world has truly gone mad.

Massa underwent some neurological tests today and apparantly the prognosis is that he is recovering well and soon will be able to begin physical training again. However, its almost certain now that he wont retern to the cockpit this year and I reckon that means Fisi has just become the main contender to replace Dadoer at Ferrari.
I still think Button is going to win this years title, no one else seems able to string together more than 2 good races in a row.

The problem is that Ferrari is the only team in F1 without a junior programme where they sign young and upcoming drivers. Their recruitment policy is to pinch drivers from other F1 teams. Which cost them a fortune in fees to managers. Eddie Jordan still have an excellent life due to fees received from Ferrari for Jean Alesi, Eddie Irvine and others. So when Massa crashed out, Ferrari was standing there with their pants on their knees. Enter Luca Badoer who has not raced since 1999. This being he was too slow back then (nobody has wanted him since then) and the ten years as a test driver has blunted his tools, so to speak. What Ferrari has done is beyond the joke. It is tragic and Luca Badoer looks like a fool. He is not a fool; he is just slow. It is tragic beyond belief and I hope for his sake that he is being replaced. Going to Monza just barely faster than a tortoise in the front of 200 000 passionate raving mad Ferrari fans is not a good idea if you want to stay alive. Ferrari has thousands of eggs on their face and I have no sympathy. Get Fisi in the car at Monza, please. Watching Badoer is just too painful.

It would be nice to see that. Fisi is a vet who's been around a long time, (and has wanted to drive for Ferrari). Even if just for the rest of the year I'd love to see it! As for Button I am 99% he has it won, (you never do know of course) but with a lead that huge and as you mentioned NO ONE can get a consistent run together. If Button was to lose it....well the collapse would be greater than his start. Though you must admit...even though he probably has it won, he's going to make it difficult at this rate!  That is great news about Massa. Sounds like he will probably make a full recovery which is most important. Next is if he will be just as sharp or will he not be the same driver...

The next question is: Who is driving for Ferrari next year ? They have Massa and Raikonen signed...... and very probably Alonso signed too with the Santander sponsorship too. 3 in 2 does not work. Ferrari are either very smart or they are in deep mess. Stay tuned !

So I heard with interest on the radio about possible race fixing involving the Renault team at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
Do you think this is the case, or is it just wishful thinking? Also, who dobbed them in? Perhaps it was Piquet, Jr. himself.
It'll be interesting to see what the FIA comes up with.
If they are found guilty, where does this leave Fernando Alonso?

I don't think they did that on purpose.... how can you tell a driver that he needs to crash against a barrier?

I cannot see Alonso being in Renualt next year in any case. I also doubt if there will be a Renualt next year. That's 50/50. Nelson Piquet is slightly less popular than pest and cholera in F1 at the moment. His only hope is if his father buy Sauber BMW. F1 is in meltdown at the moment with all the problems outside the track. It is good entertainment, although sligthly bizzarre. For sanity; choose NASCAR. I watch the races on justintv and I find them good entertainment. Even IRL has raised their game now. But I still watch F1 out of morbid curiosity.

Speaking of NASCAR they raced another race in the rain.
The Busch Race (or whatever they call it now) was in Canada when it started raining, so they put on the rain tires and windshield wiper.
It was a mess!
At first I looked forward to it, but it took forever for those 13 laps to be run.
Finish was exciting at least!

Gah, I don't want to watch cars going round in an oval.
I actually like the fact there are chicanes and the like.
Unfortunately F1 has been dumbed down over the years and it's a lot less interesting to watch on television.
