DLing as we speak.

So basically this Pelican album is my most anticipated album of 2009. I probably shouldnt set such lofty goals for it, but just like every other pleican album, it will probably grow on me, and I'll learn to love more with every new listen.

Ok, you guys NEED to hear the debut of the band Vaka (called Kappa Delta Phi). It's the most original post-metal release in years! It was formed by members of Lanberk and Paatos (both should be very well known bands here) and is heavily laden with analog keyboards such as mellotron (!!!) and harmonium. Musically it's like a mixture of Isis, and Neurosis. Check it out!

Seminal proto-math-rock band Polvo is streaming their upcoming album "In Prism" here:

A little bit lo-fi perhaps compared to a lot of things around here, but these guys were a huge influence on anything you might call math-rock.  check out "Beggar's Bowl".

Definately not. Mogwai and EITS remain two of my faorite bands... and two of the best shows I've ever seen.

Hey, for all you guys into the whole black metal thing, check out Skagos. They're super dense and semi low-fi, but the vocals are straight up evil, and sounds excellent! I'm on my first listen right now, and I'm very very impressed!

Anybody here into Josh Elliot/wecollectskies?

They're not the best, but I enjoy their stuff and it's all available for free.

Found a few good bands lately.

Here is a band called The Psyke Project, their first two albums are nothing special, but their new one "Dead Storm" is really good.Their Myspace only has one sample from that album unfortunately.

Really digging these guys,a band called Blacktusk. These guys remind me of Baroness,Bison B.C. and early Mastodon.I can't recommend their 2008 album "Passage Through Purgatory" highly enough.

This band is GREAT.They are called Dark Castle.Only 2 members and one them is a girl.Their new album "Spirited Migration" is superb.I added them to the archives recently.

These bands aren't exactly post metal. They combine elements of post metal, experimental, hardcore, sludge, doom and psychedelia.
