I'm not big on stoner rock/metal, though all my musical preferences say that I should love it. The only band I could really get into was Kyuss, and even they werent ridiculously impressive IMO. Though I do like Om's conference of the birds.

Mammatus concocts some pretty darn colorful music for a "stoner rock" band.

He still is a jerk, but Down has some real talent in the line-up like Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity),Kirk Windstein (Crowbar),Rex Brown (Pantera) and Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod,Crowbar)
Anselmo's Superjoint Ritual project is pretty killer too.

Electric Wizard are the bomb.
My band did a show with their guitarist's side project Crippled Black Phoenix, and he was a cool dood.

EW recommendations: begin with s/t if you like stoner-DOOM, or with "Dopethrone", if you like STONER-doom
SLEEP recommendations: begin with "Sleep's Holy Mountain" if you like stoner-DOOM, or with "Jerusalem", if you like STONER-doom
Have a nice listening!

Yeah, unfortunately the dude from Mogwai (the bassist, actually) was only on the latest recording, and didn't participate in the US tour.
That was a funny show, actually. Ascent of Everest was supposed to play as well, but their van broke down on the way from Ohio. So they didn't make it sadly, but on top of that, their broken van had half of CBP's gear in it.
Luckily CBP had their drums and keys with them, but they had to borrow my bass amp and our guitar amp. I was stoked that the bassist from Mogwai was going to use my amp, until I found out it wasn't really him.
They still totally killed it. "Burnt Reynolds" is the jam.

Yeah they were good.
We're sort of a mix of 90's indie-math rock and post-metal. Polvo-meets-Isis, sort of. Check out the myspace link in my signature... Folks who frequent this thread would most likely dig "Wardenclyffe Tower".

I really don't know how to feel about it until i listen to it a few times, although i can say that i'm very much not disappointed. I can see why made the comment about their new album being "very riff oriented" now; which for me isn't exactly a great thing to hear. Also, if you're reading this tonight Dim, go to their myspace right now and listen to Embedding the Moss. For some reason they might be messing with us and it's been replaced by something i'm pretty sure that i've never heard before.

I picked up Electric Wizard discography after hearing them before each time I saw Mastodon, think EW and Neurosis are their two biggest influences.. Can really tell by their vocal style. Good stuff.
