Star Wars is my favorite movie saga of all-time, with Revenge of the Sith being my favorite movie. However, LOTR comes a very close second.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Lord of the Rings easily, although I'm more of a sci-fi buff when it comes to literature.

I know I'm going to get some crap for saying this, but only parts of The Lord of The Rings movies grabbed me. I actually found them to be somewhat boring ![Embarrassed Embarrassed](smileys/smiley9.gif) I love Star Wars, though

LOTR if we're talking in general. If we have to go just by movies then Star Wars would unfortunately win out.

LOTR - Having read the books twice through and seen the movies about the same amount, it still stands out in my opinion, as the best of the sci-fi genre of all time. I love Star Wars and Dune but the difference is that the latter two are definitely sci-fi, while LOTR is fantasy. Hence I would give equal rating to LOTR and Star Wars on that basis - makes it easy when it comes to a difficult decision! ![Wink Wink](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif)

Seconded. I prefer much more science fiction to the sword and sorcery genre, but LOTR is the best fantasy around, while Star Wars is just a space opera, although a good one.

As far as this poll goes, LOTR is the definite winner. Morgoth beats out the emperor any day.
But I have to agree with Kos here, Ice And Fire is the best fantasy series going. can't wait for the HBO series!

You know what, they are different enough in nature that I really don't care. i do have all the Rings but no Wars. You should have tossed Matrix in there though.

The Matrix is amazing! Perfect blend of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Religion and Philosophy! I'm drooling just thinking about it! *Runs upstairs to grab Matrix DVD set* ![Embarrassed Embarrassed](smileys/smiley9.gif)

Star Wars by a light year!!! Just episodes 4-6 though, I can't stand the new ones.
