I'm no cop, but I'm sure there are better ways to disarm an 80 year old lady, in fact, if the cop could walk at least a couple steps per second, there wouldn't be a need to disarm her. I'm surprised nobody attacked the cop.

Quote What's f*cking new?

Well, those recent stories, for one.

Yeah I hate old people, I'm thinking maybe we need death panels.  Oh wait, I'm 44 now.  Well, I'm not totally old.  How about we send our euth to asia?

I just think before handing guns and permits to use them to anybody we should test:

a) their understanding of basic human concepts
b) their intelligence

All cops should be forced to wear a wire while on duty so any excessive force complaints can be proven if someone doesn't happen to have a camera on them. That would stop a lot of this sh*t.

I don't think that would work. That's how Jim crow type laws get started.

Oh, please don't bring race into this. Don't be absurd.

The cop was wrong no matter who was what color, alrighty?

Ermm

Anyway, the cop should be fired for that, but he won't be. As usual. If you're a cop, you can get away with a helluva lot.

Please let's not get in a discusion about the officer's race and what that means etc etc.

If the thread continues in that direction it will have to be closed temporarily, I have already recieved several flags about this already, so obviously dwelling on the officer's race is offensive to many here.

I donīt understand why talking about racism may be reason enough to close this thread. Itīs clear that if the old woman would be a white woman that coward cop never would have never acted like that. If things are said in common sense, I think there must be no problem with that.

If I were a afroamerican person, I would feel insulted if the thread was closed...

On the one hand you have to have a certain amount of respect for people who are in a profession where people try to kill you just for doing your job, but given there were two officers on the scene, I'm thinking they could have disarmed her by one keeping her distracted from the front with the other approaching her from behind.  Race was not really a factor this incident as near as I can tell and I have zero tolerance for racists.

Digusting footage. And a disgusting comment as well. As mentioned above, the cops could have been white, black, asian, hispanic, whatever. Doesn't really matter, but regardless, there are better ways of dealing with the elderly. I hope she took their asses to court.

Look, I know what you are trying to say, I'm an urban American and I have lived much of my life in inner city neighborhoods and I am not the least bit naive about American racism, I have racially mixed grandparents and you can click on my homepage and see my friends and associates. In the past I have helped the non-US admins with decoding terms that have their orgin in KKK speeches.

But plain and simple, PA rules say No Racism, which would include ascribing certain behaviour to one's race.

P.S. The preferred term is African-American, an Afroamerican is an American with a large retro hairstyle, ha ha.

I am certain it would have been easy to just walk up to her and take the knife out of her hand. the way she was tottering around she hardly posed a threat at all. and any policeman should have the sense to realize that slamming an old woman down like that could easily seriously and fatally injure her

This thread disgusts me on a number of levels.  The  fact someone is quick to ascribe the bad actions of these cops to their "white" race shows equally nasty stereotyping and reverse-racism on display, but I can't discuss that because Admin has already made the plea not to talk race and I'll respect that.

What I will say is that most all of police officers in this country do an outstanding job, risking their lives daily to protect the general public from scumbags of all colors.  Yet, the media, and cheerleaders of lame threads like this one, will choose to look at the rare instances of abuse to perpetuate their own hatred of the coppers as the norm.  Cop abuses exist but are like plane crashes.  Thousands of planes take off every day, a few crash, guess where the cameras show up?   The cameras are never there to show the millions of moments of police officers compassion and hard work to assure you have a decent quality of life in your neighborhood.  These normal daily transactions between officer and citizen are the norm, yet the media and the cop-haters do splendid teamwork making the public think all cops are scum.  Congratulations.  Your deceptions are profoundly effective thanks to our complicit media and gullible public.  You've made the fairly rare seem the norm to a good deal of the public.

The fact is, most people willing to trash the integrity of all officers on the actions of a few, will be damn happy to see them in their own moment of need.  Wait until your child has been abducted, wait until you're being mugged by some pussy thugs, wait until your wife has been attacked, your home has been robbed, or your car smashed by a drunk.  Wait until your Grandma, black or white, has a fire and see if the first cop on the scene doesn't bust into the burning house to pull her out despite it being safer to wait for the fire dept.  See who you call, and chances are you'll be treated professionally by a well meaning officer.  But I understand it's much easier to cherry pick a horrible moment of over-reaction/bad judgement and degrade and entire group for it.  Lovely.

(Taking out the racism speech...)

Has anybody talk about the work of the police officers...?

Cops- Heaters?

When a proffesional acts badly like in that video, I think itīs normal judge him just to express refuse...

When a cop acts well and save lifes, and they do everyday, weīll have the same right to talk about it.
Well, and serials on tv and films remind us very well how big they are...
