Mine is obviously Curly of the Three Stooges.  Just grabbed it to go with my username.  I'll change it eventually considering it isn't even a good picture.

Wouldn't one need a huge cock to knock another unconscious though? Besides, it wouldn't be very nice to the cock.

My avatar is a picture of a green shield stamp.  This was a kind of retail reward token used in many British shops up until the end of the 1970s.  If you spent a certain amount of money, you got a stamp.  If you collected a lot of stamps you could exchange them for a set of steak knives or some other desirable product.

The reason I have this, is because it comes from the lyrics to 'Dance with the Moonlit Knight' by Genesis.

Quote: 'The knights of the green shield stamp and shout.'

The lyric is obviously a pun.  You can read the word 'stamp' as a verb, or as part of the noun phrase 'Knights of the green shield'.

There are some great puns on 'Selling England by the Pound' - the title itself for instance. Does 'pound' refer to the monetary unit or  the measurement of weight? Could it even be a reference to a percussive beat?

Tess co-operates is a good one too (obvious reference to the supermarket Tesco)

The Battle of Epping Forest is full of such things: "The shops that need aid are those that haven't paid". "East End Heroes fight to protect the poor", etc etc etc. Some of my favourite prog lyrics are on that album

I saw one of your books in a store today and I was going to buy it just out of curiosity, but then I realized (am I right?) it was a sequel to the one in your avatar. They didn't have that so I bought some Dostoyevsky instead, but perhaps I'll get yours some day Smile

My avatar is a painting by Louis Wain. It features a cat, who by the expression on it's face is disturbed.

Mine's a still of Max Schreck as Count Orlok in FW Murnau's 1922 Nosferatu, one of my all-time favourite works of art. I love the light and shade contrasts in this image.
