I think the reason why the lyrics are so good and tight is due to the fact that they were deeply personal to Fish, especially regarding his massive drink problem at the time. This, of course, and the egos involved and the fact the band had virtually no break at all led to the split. However, I do not regret the split, and did not from the moment that I heard both King of Sunset Town and the subsequent Seasons End tour in Wolverhampton. My faith has been rewarded many times over since. |

Definitely has been - I think that Hogarth's lyrics seem more... Natural. Both great. |

Still having a tough time getting excited about Less=More. Again, I'm sure I'll like it, but seems a bit unnecessary, IMO.
I did spin Seasons End today. Man, what a wonderful disc! "Easter" is still just so beautiful. Marillion's perfect song. On a sad note: I saw that Fish had to cancel a show due to poor sales. Not sure what's up with that. E |

I'm not sure about the whole L=M idea... I think it'll be good, but in the end, I'd really prefer the guys to be working on a new studio album. I agree about Easter - My first Marillion track, and I wouldn't have it any other way -Joel |

Evening folks!
Just listened to Brave out in my garage, with the lights off, insanely loud whilst lying down on the floor... One of the two or three most fulfilling musical experiences of my life... Simply amazing! -Joel |

Joel, I have yet to listen to Brave in the manner that you did. The manner in which it should be listened to. One of these nights when the girls have gone to bed, I need to put it on the player with the headphones and crank it.

Make sure you do sometime - It took the album to a whole new level for me... It also seemed to fit into place as an album better! -Joel |

So I was getting ready to go to the record store today and was considering trading in my copy of Anoraknophobia since I don't really listen to it. Naturally, I survey the album once more before I make a decision and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I still enjoyed it. This is like the third time this has happened with that record. I don't enjoy it nearly as much as Seasons End, Brave, Afraid of Sunlight, Marbles or Happiness Is the Road, but there's something in this record that keeps it pleasurable and above the miserable period preceding it. It's definitely not stylistically tailored to my tastes, but it seems to me like Marillion's music is so genuine and heartfelt (as evidenced by their passionate performances of the tunes) that I can't help but get into it even if it's not their best stuff.

Glad to hear it, Moatilliatta! I haven't got Anoraknophobia, but thats the next album I think I'll buy from Marillion - It sounds good, and I've really enjoyed the tracks I've heard so far. Glad you enjoy it, and keep listening! -Joel |

^^,
Its not a special edition - Its a... More full edition, really. It comes with some extra tracks - Don't go without these... In particular, it comes with the epic Ocean Cloud, which is one of Marillion's best ever, and also with The Only Unforgivable Thing, which is also AMAZING. I'd say get it - If you order online from their store, its only 3 pounds more, which is a small price to pay for 2 more of their best tracks! -Joel |

I wish I had gotten the 2 disc Marbles edition but at the time I didn't know it supposed to be a double album. So I had to get the Somewhere in London DVD so I could have Ocean Cloud, an amazing track.
I still don't have a few songs but it's hard the buy the Racket records edition for just a couple songs.

I got it now (2cd), from a first listen trough its great, i love the fact that the style have changed a little bit from the older stuff i got, its not the "just another Marillion"
From a first glims:
Marbles 1-2-3-4 stands out as very beautifull short tunes.
Ocean Cloud a wonderfull Epic
All in all, even though this is a huge realease it all comes out as a strong unit.

I found it to be an incredible album, but my favourite thing about it is the way that Marbles 1,2,3 and 4 fill the space between tracks and make the transition... It made if feel like more of a story than just a collection of tracks based around a story or concept... And I love that! -Joel |

Pretty much what Joel said. Don't look at it like a full album, plus some throwaways tacked on as bonus features. The tracks you get with the deluxe edition are every bit as good (if not better) as the material on the single disc edition. One MUST hear "Ocean Cloud", IMO. Absolutely stunner of a tune. Marbles is a masterpiece. Plain and simple. |

They may not always hit the mark that pleases every fan, but you can't accuse Marillion of being stagnant. They are always exploring new ways of producing music that doesn't sound antiquated and tired. E |
