Oops, maybe '95 is what I was thinking of with Benneton But still, Schumi has put some great drives. I recall the one where he was stuck in 2nd gear and still drove around, including pit stops, and managed a podium. So Neil, when you say Schumi had the best equipment, well of course! All F1 drivers are talented..it's a matter of making it to a good team. And no matter how good you are, if your car is THAT bad you can not overcome....unless its raining or a street circuit and you are Ayrton Senna. As Sleeper said, Stirling Moss never won a title...and even though he came close he couldn't beat Ferrari or Maserati. Although I will admit he probably should have won in '58.

^I bet your thinking of Monaco 84 were Senna in the Toleman was hunting down Prost. Little known fact is that the third placed driver Stefan Bellof in the Tyrrel was catching the pair of them.
With Moss I was mostly reffering to his early years where he resolutely stayed loyal to poor British machinery that had no hope of beating the Alfa's, Maserati's and Ferrari's until he joined Mercedes. After that it was a case of being beaten by Fangio and poor reliability that cost him the title in following years.

Well, apparantly Piquet is gone now, he seems to have reported it himself on his own website and given a very damning account of the way Renault treated him, Flavio in particular.
Either Lucas Di Grassi or Romain Grosjean will get the seat with my money being on Grosjean.

That's a shame. DIdn't have much of a chance. Obviously we don't know exactly how he was treated by Renault but I would believe him... I swear I started hearing talks about his seat "being in trouble" halfway into his first season.
Guess he never really had a chance to succeed...especially in that terrible Renault. And as for which driver.....it's pretty safe bet to put on Renault taking the french driver

Grosjean is in. It is reported in Brazil that Piquet is buying Sauber. Piquet has always bought his own teams... with the exception of Renualt. Go figure.

I've read what Piquet wrote and some of it doesnt surprise me about the actions of his manager and team boss Briatore, he's always favoured one driver over another. However, some of his comments I cant help but feel are utter bollocks. He mentions that when new developments came in he'd have to wait a race longer than Alonso to get them. Now thats very much true but thats because they only really had enough parts for one car and lets face it, no sane man would give them to Piquet over Alonso. I dont think he's ever had a fair chance in F1 but I also cant help think he's underperformed with the chance he has had.

Its certainly the rumour (Piquet Sr buying Sauber) but we'll see how true it is. I hadnt thought of that, Renault is the only time NPJ hasnt driven for a team owned by his father.

Well Massa says he's going to attempt to come back soon. I guess he doesn't want Schumacher taking all the glory. Good look to him though on a quick return.

It would be nice to see but I seriously doubt it, recovery from a fractured skull and subsiquent operation to relieve brain swelling is not something that you rush.

Agreed, on pretty much everything. I really do feel for him, and we do know how Flavio operates. But yeah...I guess he did underperform but that Renault is pretty bad. It takes Fernando to get anything good out of it. And news does sound good with Massa. Seems like he'll make a full recovery. I just hope his actual performance won't be affected. Some drivers bounce back from such severe injuries, some are never the same....

Have you read Zanardi's book?
There you can understand the way Briatore operates... why he's so succesful and why drivers hate him...

No, he wasn't managed by him but they had contacts in the early 90's, in Alex's first season in F1.
Every race fan should read Zanardi's book, it's the best racing book I've ever read. Funny, really deep is some places, with many anedoctes... inspirational indeed

An alright race, but no one can complain about the outcome! It was so great to see Rubino win, and it seems like EVERYONE was genuinely happy for him. And I understand why. Great result, and next race is Spa! Now THAT is a track

Indeed. Spa is truly something. I also like Suzuka, and Turkey and China are pretty good as well. Even though they don't do it anymore (pretty much because it'd be suicide) the Nordschleife is awesome! The original nurburgring...it's like 15 miles long and really narrow, twisty and fast. Again, that would be instant death in an F1 car though...
