I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about unless it's heavy sarcasm. |

Holy crap!
Microsoft taking pre-orders for Zune HD media player; $219 for 16GB; Sept. 15Posted by Andrew Nusca @ 4:46 am Microsoft announced on Thursday that its Zune HD portable digital media player is available now for pre-order. The device is expected to arrive on store shelves on Sept. 15. [ZDNet Image Gallery: Hands-on with Zune HD] The player, available in 16GB and 32GB capacities, is the first touch-screen Zune and competes directly with Apple’s iPod touch. [ZDNet Image Gallery: Hands-on with Zune HD browser]
The Zune HD can be ordered in 16GB Black and 32GB Platinum now from the official Zune site and through Amazon.com, Best Buy, Walmart and Microsoft. Beginning Sept. 15, both 16GB and 32GB capacities of Zune HD will be available in five colors with the option of 10 artist-commissioned laser engravings. Microsoft says the Zune HD is the first to combine the following features:
Inside the Zune HD is an NVIDIA Tegra ultralow-power HD processor, by the way. Pricing for the Zune HD is as follows: 16GB: $219.99; 32GB: $289.99. That makes the Zune HD twice as spacious for the same price as the iPod touch, though Apple is expected to refresh its device in the next month or two. I'm not in a hurry. Can comfortably wait until my current one croaks. Edited by Slartibartfast - August 13 2009 at 13:37 |

Well, it's good enough to pay for, but if I don't actually own it anyway I'd rather download it for free than pay for it. Economically intelligent

I'm another who has a Zune and hasn't had any problems with it. While I'm at college, it gets at least several hours of listening per day, as I use it while walking to and from classes, when I want to drown out noisy/annoying people in rooms near mine, etc. I've got the 80gb model as well, and I don't plan on parting with it until it dies.

Absolutely. The artwork is part of the experience for me. If all I'm getting is a compressed, cover-less version of the album, I'm not paying for it. Which is why I buy all of my music the old fashioned way. |

So it's good enough to listen to, but not to pay for it? |

Thanks.... I considered that. That just may be what I will do (bit worried about buying used though), or get a player from a consignment store (also unreliable). I actually have a pretty good one (bought about five years ago in Hong Kong) but lost the charger. I might just try harder to find a charger for that. At 4 gigs, it's more than I really need. |

I can give some input here at least on the Zune itself, I know nothing of this 15$ a month for music thing. Two of my friends have had Zunes for a few years and they've outlasted everybody else I know's Ipods and everything. And it has enough space, so other than that I don't know what would matter since it's all equal mp3 quality

I thought about getting a Zune myself, but I don't really want to spend more than about (CAN) $60 on an mp3 player.

^ Many people have said that Zunes have better audio quality than iPods, if that means anything.
Some people are just anti-Microsoft, though, and won't listen to reason. |

I was actually very close to starting a mp3 player thread in the Tech section (should this one be there?), I have seen the specs, which were good, but I don't like putting money into hardware until I have heard peoples personal opinions about them. I am quite sure that I am going to go for one now, especially since I just made $500 painting/sealing my mom's cousin's basement (which is hard work since she's a dog breeder and her basement is packed with cages and pet grooming paraphernalia), and my graduation party should generate a fair amount too. |

In my opinion, though, you're not gonna find a better machine for the money. iPods are unreliable (IMO) and every other mp3 player is just imitating these two. It's worth it, believe me. I'm very happy with my 80gb Zune. |

I am seriously thinking about getting a Zune. I am sick and tired of my Sansa deleting songs because of corrupted data, not to mention a dozen more annoying things that it does. I've recently been researching Zunes and they seem like a great improvement over my current Sansa e280. The $200 price tag isn't very appealing to my wallet though.
