Garm is on BOTH of the first two albums.... I have only heard 'the olden domain', but I love it.

the first Ulcerate album is good.... sort of like Gorguts lite.  very dissonant, amazing drumming, some doom parts and overall great songwriting.  the new one, however, was a big let-down (not proggy at all)

Blut Aus Nord is only experimental in the albums The Work Which Transforms God -through- Odinist;  the albums before and after that are pretty standard melodic, symphonic black metal.  The ones I mentioned however take a page from the dark ambient, dissonant experimentation of bands like Deathspell Omega... yet they have their own sound... which I very much love!  If we are going to debate putting BAN in the archives, might as well include The Axis Of Perdition:

Are you serious??? Their new album was fairly groundbreaking as a death metal album. There are barely any death metal cliches within.

you may have a really dark sense of humor, I don't think any of it is intended as tongue-in-cheek...... It is part performance art really, setting an aesthetic mood and intensity.... It would be surreal to see them live.

By the way Ehron you are a well of interesting recommendations. Keep them coming. I always check out the things you suggest.

Into the Everflow is a favorite of mine too. I saw Psychotic Waltz live on the Mosquito and on the Bleeding tour. Great shows in a very small venue ( maybe 150-200 people in the audience). The band were totally stoned but played like a dream. Buddy was such a sight on a stage back then. Dancing his weird dances and joking with the audience. They played lots of songs from the first two albums at both concerts. I have a really great long sleeve from the Mosquito tour that I purchased at the show ( very worn and with holes but I still got it) with the moon smoking a pipe. Really great psychadelic picture. I also purchased the first Darkstar album at one of those shows. A unique band that deserves much more attention and praise.
