Happy Sigur Ros is great...Gobbledigook is one of my favorite songs ever. I just wish Med Sud maintained at least some of the energy of the first half in the second half. It pretty much loses all of its steam by the end. It's still good, but the first half was so fresh, so fun and so great. I tend to listen to Takk and Med Sud more often than Agaetis and ( ), but everytime I listen to them, ( ) especially, I am just mesmerized in a special way I guess.

And yes, Heima is wonderful. The scenery and such that they capture is so gorgeous. And that rock marimba!

( ) > Ageatis Byrjurn > Med Sud > Takk...

That being said None of those albums are under 4 stars for me.

I watched about half of Heima on Youtube, but the horrible pixelation just got to me after a while.

Hey the whole movie was streaming!

Besides, the only place that would sell Heima would be our record store downtown... in which I end up spending all my money on vinyls.

AB = ( ) > Takk... > Med Sud > Von

AB and ( ) are both five star albums to my ears, and are equal to eachother in quality for different reasons. Takk... and Med Sud are solid three star albums, and Von is a two star album. Unfortunately, the quality of their albums (and Jonsi's voice) are declining over time, with the exception of Von. There's my two cents.

Lets hope the new one will be a new masterpiece. They're saying it will be much more ambient and less "out-there" than their past albums though... the latter of which makes me quite sad.

Thanks!  I'm liking 'This Will Destroy You' a lot.  Post-rock / ambient with a little touch of electronica?
Now for the next step:  acquiring their albums! ;-)

I've a feeling my wallet will immensely suffer if I go through all the pages in this thread. Dead

Weeeeeeeeakish. Srly tho, it's definitely not the album I was expecting in terms of quality. George, who is now just a raspy rambler, said that they experimenting with "atmospheric heaviness" and "weirdness" or something along those lines in a an interview a while back and I don't hear any of that really. The bridge of "Young Cardinals" might qualify as weird, and "The Northern" and "Burial" might qualify as atmospherc and/or heavy, but overall its just not quite up to par. Dallas shines on "Born and Raised" (my personal favorite, great song) and much of the second half, but I can't even say that these highs are as high as the stuff on the last two records. I love that they change their sound significant;y with each record, but here I don't think they put enough effort into writing great songs. It's still pretty good compared to their peers, but they can do much better.

I feel like Alexisonfire has some much talent but they tend to sell themselves short when they write albums. There are some great, great tracks, but then there are some throwaways too. They could probably do a little more to make the album feel like an album rather than a collection of songs too.

I agree with that pretty much. I was expecting something totally different from the way they spoke of the album in interviews. The only thing different I hear from previous albums is George's new singing style, which I don't mind but I do prefer his growls.

It's early, but besides some moments it's a let down to me. After Crisis I expected something really great.

^Ah, well I've given it several listens and it hasn't grown on me much. I pretty much love Dallas' parts all around, and there are a few cool riffs, but overall it just doesn't stick as well as the last two records. And I don't really feel like trying again because I'm in love with the new dredg and Dear Hunter records and I'd rather listen to those, among other things.  Besides, Alexisonfire isn't really one of those complex bands that require multiple listens to get it.

I saw Heima in a movie theatre, it was absolutely mindblowing. I cried during Untitled #8, it was so good.

Afterwards they played a short acoustic set, that was also fantastic, they were right in front of me as I was in the front row.

BTW, good review on the previous page Clap ( ) > every album in the world.

In other related news, I ordered Kayo Dot's Choirs of the Eye today after listening to it twice from Spotify yesterday. I had quite many stunning moments and as a whole it was always interesting. I should give the new motW some more listens...

Mind = Blown! Explosions were amazing! They opened with Memorial which is my favorite song by them, everything afterwords was pure bliss.

Alexisonfire... yuck.
