What year did you first hear Dream Theater ?

Dream Theater have been around some time now I thought it may be fun perhaps even sentimental to ask when you first heard them, what year it was for this may even be a little bit of a challenge to remember for some people, I was a little late it was when the awake album came out I remember hearing about a band that was a little heavy yet complex in the way Kansas Yes and some other prog bands were complex ..  so I ordered Images and words and Awake from my local music store..  I was blown away !   .. 1994 Awake came out but I think it was early 95 I heard them first.

2001 I think, a friend introduced me to them. I think I first heard A Change of Seasons and perhaps some Awake stuff and soon bought Images & Words.

2004, I downloaded TOT and I&W simultaneusly. I think the first I heard from them was As I Am, but I didn't like it very much at first, plus the archive that I downloaded didn't sounded very well .
I&W I liked a lot more from first listen, but still didn't blew me away until the third listening or so, when it made a "click" in my head, and actually TOT is one of my fave albums from DT. I kept downloading all their stuff available then, until they released Octavarium, wich I purchased days after it came out. Then I bought all their studio albums (except WDADU) and all their official DVD's. So, I guess I'm a fan of theirs.

On that DVD, my dad bought as a one-off...

Funny enough, I lent it to two of my friends who were into Metallica, and now they both own the DT discography - And all for 8.99$

Although I have been listening to Prog Rock since 1979, I only listened to my first Dream Theater album a few months ago.  It was on this website that I asked for recommendations - following the responses, I bought a copy of  'Images and Words'. I have to say that I wasn't exactly blown away at first.  However, I got hold of the CD, 'Metropolis Part 2: Scenes from a Memory' a couple of weeks ago and I have listened to it about a dozen times. I love this album. It's one of the best concept albums I've ever heard.

1995... A Change Of Seasons was the reason but i bought I&W first... managed to get into, many months later, though...

i remember buying it together with Parallels by Fates Warning... up till now, these bands, along with Queensryche, are my fave Prog Metal bands! aaah, first love...

1992,  I was at 15 in that year, imagine that what a surprise to discover prog music at this age Images and words  is among my fav albums ever, a status remaining from that year.

2003 I think, a friend of mine lent me Images and Words and Scenes From a Memory.

I discovered the band with a press sheet announcing the release of Images in Words. I bought this album on a tape cassette and i was flabbergast by their music. Since then i have all their cd's and DVD's. It  has replaced Rush in my heart and not to say in my life... 

1992.  The video for Pull Me Under was playing on MTV and on my local hard rock/heavy metal radio station and I was immediately hooked and went out and bought Images and Words, and shortly thereafter When Dream and Day Unite.
