Yep, and I always thought Bob and his mates took care of things like this. How about it ?
Or is this not important enough ? What's the use of this thread then ?

Conor Fynes' double personalities were suspended long ago, unfortunately when you delete a member their reviews do not dissapear, this is a feature that we are discussing with Max. It is difficult to hunt down all the reviews, but if you guys keep reporting them, we can delete them as they come up.

It's not even that the double reviews really bug me that much but the wrong rating averages because of them. But I never realized these things could lead to such big technical problems.
Good luck with the reporting to M@x.

This is part of the reason why I don`t have the heart to sit down and write as many reviews anymore. They get lost in this sea of dribble. I tried to write a review this morning but the heart just wasn`t there and then I got busy with something else. If it`s still there in it`s incomplete and unedited form I`ve asked one of the admins to remove it until I feel up to writing it with more inspiration.
I think that sooner or later something has to be done about redundant reviews, ie albums with hundreds of reviews. The guidelines have to be revamped in some way. I guess what I`m saying here is somewhat redundant as well. |

Vibe; remember that a new review of any album - no matter how many reviews it has - will appear at the top of the band page, even though it'll be at the bottom of the album page [and eventually disappear from the front].. so depending on the popularity of the album, at least you'll have a while at the top before you're bumped to second

It's not that at all. It's just disheartening to see another Foxtrot or Close To The Edge review when I log in. I just say to myself what's the bloody point. I tried to write a review of an album that's never been reviewed but my heart wasn't in it. I was forcing myself even though I actually really like the album. Why don't we have a regularly updated ready-reference list of unreviewed albums. Maybe people will get the message. I dunno.

Saw this a while ago - I've got a few of those. Should I ask the wife for a bit of leave/furlough to get round to reviewing them? |

That list is out of date and very incomplete. What I meant was something that is up-to-date that people can add to.

What if the guy is a new commer?
Or a Prog newbie who has only listened 10 or 12 albums that will surely include CTTE or Foxtrot?
Why should we limit their right to review?

Besides, I've noticed there seems to be a lot of fuss in this thread over reviews being on the front page/at the top/ot just about noobs. Reviews are reviews, why the elitism? |

Who's the noob? NOOB. Never heard that one before. Nobody sees my point. I'm not talking about reviews being at the top bottom middle nor was I suggesting that someone's right to review should be limited. I think the site loses some credibility whenever someone new logs in and begins to see review after review for Moving Pictures, Red or Fragile. I have a friend who happened over the site recently and brought this point up with me after I told him was involved with the site.

^ See your point, just strongly disagree with you. I've said it before: one of the things I love MOST about this site is being able to get a fresh take on a classic album from a thoughtful review. I'll always read what a reviewer has to say about CTTE. It might well increase my insight, and I'll certainly learn something about the reviewer!
Perhaps the problem is actually the poor quality of the reviews. Edit: sorry, I just realised this is the reporting thread, not the discussion thread. Edited by russellk - June 08 2009 at 16:08 |

I dunno I wrote a review for CTTE some time ago just for a joke and nobody got it ! It`s so easy to spew out something about albums like this because all has been said and done really.

this one talks more about why or why not Queensryche are prog and almost nothing about music....
nothing too insultive but there is no real explanation of the rating http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=220894 Edited by aapatsos - June 13 2009 at 08:32 |

Yeah, I saw that one, I've sent him an apologetic PM before i delete it. I'm trying to give him the dignity of responding first, but I also need to get off the computer soon. Does anybody who know Italian want to send him a PM and esplain. |
