4 stars Okay I have only listened to four of these tracks because they were leaked, but from what I've heard,

Actaully not a bad review, pity.

Totally agree. 19. June is the release date and there is twelve reviews already.....Shocked

I actually got a promo CD and I am witholding my review until that date or later just to make sure that I, M@X and PA does not get into any sort of trouble.

The guy Yorkie X reviews Stargazer as if it's a dream theater song, when it is actually a cover song.
It's fun that he guesses Dio-style vocals and overall 70-s feel) Seems like DT did their job on this cover anyway. :)

I think that both the site and the band would have no problem with you posting your review prior to the release date, given you have received a promo copy of the CD.  I think that the problem is generally with accepting review from folks who illegally obtain copies from leaked sources or who just post a review even though they haven't heard the album.

There is nothing wrong with this review. But probably If the reviewer had heard the original song it would have been different!

I was about to report this.

He also noted "some deep purple also".

Hmmm, maybe because it's a Ritchie Blackmore (Rainbow) song?

so this guy has only listened to 4 tracks of 8 in the album, I think that ain't enough to make a review, especially giving it 4 stars

When will we learn not to add albums previous to it's release?

The guy admits having heard only 4 songs and listened them by an illegal channel, enough to delete both rating and review.

If you want the album to be posted before the release, block the reviews and ratings, in this case we don't have the total time, the songs time, the cover art is only rumored to be the original, I believe the album must also go.

dude, wtf, Riverside's, Dream Theater's and The Mars Volta's albums already have ratings, and the first one to be released is the Riverside one on June 19th.

Check it:

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=22960
http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=22165
http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=23268

There is even a guy that made an account exclusively to give BlacK Clouds and Silver Linings 1 star. This is just ridiculous.

Aye I'm kinda confused by this too.

Also on a Dream Theater note. I'm not sure whether or not this review is serious or not. But this reviewer is giving Stargazer 2 stars, purely on the fact that it's: Not progressive, sounds like Ronnie James Dio, and was groove/funk not metal, and it sounds like its straight out of the 70's.

Apparently, the reviewer doesn't understand the fact that, it's a cover of a Ronnie James Dio song, that was written in the 70's, and of course it's not progressive It's Dio.

Yesterday, Infamous filled the home page by reposting his non-flower kings original reviews with apparently no changes. So, he has two identical reviews and ratings for many albums.

I couldn't agree more. That alone would make the site much more serious. I want to listen to the new DT album but can't we wait just one more month? There are loads of different music to keep you entertained during that period.

Isn't it a bit peculiar when someone almost systematically rewards 1 star to the top-rated albums of the last years?

I think there should be a limit of at least 100 posts, for someone  to rate an album (IMO)

I support Ivan on this 100%. I understand that allowing early reviews (that in most cases are self-admittedly based on pirated copies) generates traffic for the site, but at what cost? I believe this reduces the credibility of the site significantly. It makes PA appear to support illegal downloading. More importantly, the quality of most of the reviews does nothing to help us with our purchasing decision. When the time comes. In. A. Month.

If these people can't exercise self-restraint, can't we assist them by limiting reviews to Collaborators before release date?

Edit: sorry, this should be in the reviews discussion thread.

As this is an review made by an (official?) reviewer, I think it's just shameful to see such flaming of an album which is supposed to be inspired by Dream Theater's role models. Calling it plagiarism is just plain ignorant.

TRoTZ has suppported with arguments all his claims, that's much more than people who rate with 1 or 5 stars without reviewing do, he had the courage to believe in something and give arguments, we may agree or not with him, this is secondary, but he made a coherent review and gave argunments, that's enough for me.

I believe  the review should stay, a reviewer must not be afraid of being provocative without fallingg in the insult of calling songs crap orr trash and the guy did it.

These are the same old arguments against that album. The review itself is a plagiarism.

Plagiarism is to copy an existing review.

Using arguments that have previously been used doesn't mean a thing, except that maybe the arguments are true.

Not saying anything about the album, despite I'm very familiar with Octavarium (Everybody who was a member when released is familiar with it, being that we didn't had a chance than to listen it because of the bunch of reviews), but the guy is entitled to give his opinion if he supports it with ARGUMENTS.
