OK, that's it !!! I have been mulling over "the big issue" of taking out a Classic Rock subscription for the last three months. But this news has kicked my arse into gear. I am now filling in the online subscription form. It is a fantastic offer so I am damned not for doing this before today.

They better not include any of that crap about punk having to come in because prog got too big for its boots, I'm feed up with the same old garbage that those critics, magazines and documentaries say about prog. They just make that stuff up without any real evidence or get all one sided about it.

I don`t see anything in the latest issue that has anything to do with prog unless you want to count the Geddy Lee interview or the review for Rush`s millionth compilation CD.

Why? Why ?Why? Do we need another Rush compilation CD. I think this one covering the period of `89 to the present has a couple of live versions and a couple of remasters.From the interview I get the impression that it was their record company`s idea. Milk Milk Milk Milk.

That's the regular Classic Rock magazine. There is a separate quarterly Prog version.

Just saw it yesterday. It comes in a sealed cardboard package with a CD and costs $25.95 here in Canada.

Yeah, I think I`d go for the case of beer. I was unable to open it but from the looks of the cover it looks a bit on the commercial side. Pink Floyd is the main feature. I mean how much more do we need to know about PF. Occasionally you see the odd prog review in the UK magazine Record Collector. Last month they had a short review on Frumpy 2 and three Hawkwind re-issues.
I `d like to see a magazine that has the guts to devote itself to lesser known prog bands both from the early days up to the present.

It is a worthwhile magazine to read - for a first issue, of course they had to set out their stall with the "greats"; the problem is in the UK, we only pay about a quarter what you guys have to pay, so you're bound to be less enthusiastic.
The proof of the pudding will be from issue 2 onwards.

I just leafed through a store copy that was open this morning. I find they`re trying to market more neo-prog bands. Too many adverts in a mag that costs $25.95 CAN. There were the usual articles on Marilion, JT, Rush and too much Pink Floyd. Hadn`t heard of any of the bands on the CD. Was suprised to see a review for Grobschnitt`s Illegal album though. Tried to go to the magazine`s website but just got erreur de charge. Didn`t see anything about PA.

I think the mentions re PA are in the next issue - although their parent magazine Classic Rock did make a small mention of us this month, effectively saying if you want to know anything about prog rock, here is the site to be.
So far as advertising is concerned, unfortunately that's the way over here with virtually every magazine on the shelf...
