Topic: Your band! Posted: April 16 2009 at 21:35 |
Take your fave prog players and put together a band of your own!
Here's an example:
My ideal band is
Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis): Clean Vocals
Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes): Female Vocals
Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth, Bloodbath): Rhythm Guitars, Death Vocals
Adrian Belew (King Crimson, Zappa): Lead & Rhythm Guitars
Sam Totman (DragonForce): Lead Guitars, Backing Vocals
Tony Banks (Genesis): Keyboards, Piano, Organ, Synthesizers
Kevin Moore (Dream Theater, OSI): Keyboards, Piano, Organ, Synthesizers
Rick Wakeman (Yes, The Strawbs): Keyboards, Piano, Organ, Synthesizers
Geddy Lee (Rush): Bass, Backing Vocals
Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, LTE): Drums, Percussion
Phil Collins (Genesis, Brand X): Drums, Percussion

Mike O's vocals would be a great thing for Leaves Eyes.
I declare Shenanigans on having people from Genisis and Dragonforce in the same band !!
|
If it's worth playing, it's worth playing loud!

Zappa - Concepts/arrangments Mike Patton - Vocals Fripp - Guitar Omar Rodriguez Lopez - Guitar Jaco Pastorius - Bass Ray Manzerek - Keyboard/organ Zach Hill - Drums Brian Eno - Ambience
Not sure if Zach Hill would be the right choice for that line up but it would be interesting.

Damn, that would have sounded very interesting, just add a saxophone player or violinist ala Ponty.

I'd try this lineup:
John Wetton - Bass/Vocals Geoff Downes - Keyboards Steve Howe - Guitars Carl Palmer - Drums
Only this time, have them sound something like a combination of Yes, ELP, and King Crimson, instead of sounding like music from a Mentos commercial!

I think its pretty funny having Tony Banks and Phil Collins in a band with Mikael Akerfeldt doing death vocals. Imagine hearing Mikael singing "Sssudio" and growling.

Drums - Bill Bruford Bass - Les Claypool Guitar - Jeff Beck Keyboards - Trent Reznor Vocals - Mike Patton

I've posted this lineup in several of these threads, but: - Ed Wynne (Ozric Tentacles) / Guitar
- Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) / Bass
- Tim Alexander (Primus) / Drums
^^ Instrumental Alternative/Funk rock with a psychedelic twist
