I have played this about a dozen times now. Until recently I hadn't even heard of the band, but I love this album.
Another very recent acquisition. My first (and only) Alan Parsons Project albums. This is a brilliant album. Can anyone recommend another great album from this band? |
for both. Love Little Atlas. You should get Wanderlust as well.
As for APP, they went a little poppier from Tales, but still produced some fine recordings. My three favs outside of Tales are I, Robot; Turn of a Friendly Card; and Eye in the Sky. |
What about Pyramid?

Good Point another good one

Yeah...gotta say Ammonia Avenue is another good one too. Whatever you do though, at all costs, avoid Vulture Culture. By far their worst, and the only APP album in which I find nothing interesting.

Ok. Listening to BOC - Heaven Forbid. Thought I'd give it a spin after so many years. And now I remember my problem with this album. Some of the songs are great, in fact, the first five hold my interest well. Especially, the song "Harvest Moon". Cool Buck song. But then, after the first five, the album starts to get kind of samey. And they top off the sameyness with another version of "In Thee", Allen's only contribution to the album, composition-wise. They really miss the Bouchard brothers. I think having only two writers on this album really hurt them. They need the other three.
By the way, whatever happened with Lanier? His last original writing credit with the band was "Don't Turn Your Back" off Fire. Then nothing from him anymore. I liked his songs usually. Too bad he stopped writing. Even liked his two vocals. He could've sang a bit more too.

The lyrics on "See You In Black" are kind of lame too. I mean, they start off well and where they want to go is pretty good, dark, frightening, but the way they were written is just soooo... bleh Samey is a good way of putting it. It seems like they were trying too hard. I'll agree that Harvest Moon was a great song, although I've always liked "Perfect Water" a whole lot more.

BOC will be playing in early June in Annapolis, MD!!!! Hope we'll get to see them this time... I missed them a few times in the last few years, though I had to chance to see them live in Rome in 1986. They smoked !

Never have had the chance to see them live. Of course, I'd want to see them with Allen, Albert and Joe back in the band.
Still, seeing them with the current lineup is better than nothing. Go see them!!!

I went on my Sabbath marathon this weekend ... Was planning on just the Dio era, but I got carried away as usual
Oh, and for the same reasons as yours...

Yeah, sometimes you just gotta throw in some Ozzy-era, Martin-era and Born Again too.

You know. I wish they had worked out the legal stuff with Ozzy and gone under Black Sabbath, since it really is Black Sabbath. Because at this point, Forbidden is still the last Sabbath studio album and will probably always remain so.
