The previous thread has been closed and since this is where are dearly departed friend Antoine (Febus) used to post the most, I have created this new one in his honor. Hopefully, he is listening along with us to some of his favorites.

Hope you like it. It's quite cheerful and melodic and in my case, addictive. There's some zeuhlish and other influences in the music (like Samla, Univers Zero and others) but the overall results is quite distinctive and appealing.

I'm having my first listen to the Spotify website, and therein my first ever listen to Selling England By The Pound. It seems to be rated Number One on PA, so I thought I'd better give it a try. It's ok so far, but apparently Phil Collins sings the next song - and I can't help but worry slightly

and now I've moved on to Thick As A Brick, which is quite fun on first listen. Maybe I'll get around to all the other obvious gaps in my listening this month. There are still 14 of the top 20 which I've never heard.

I'm good. Can't say i've been busy, but i've been doing other stuff, since i've been pretty bored of PA lately. Yeah, i will. Might even play it tonight. And DIO is actually really good, you should like them! Get the first 3 albums!

The first listen was quite good. I suppose that I will pick up more things upon closer listen but I didn't really pick up too much in the Zeuhl and other influences (not that I am an expert in these by any stretch of the imagination).
And now back to my listening experience with the Ladies.

I think I will give his beloved Depeche Mode a listen, even though it may provoke a tear or 2. RIP Antoine!

a fascinating album with an odd sound and mood, but a great one at that. The previuos one, Creatures, is also very good, albeit, different somewhat.
They have a new one coming out this year back with their old drummer. Highly looking forward to it (should be more "experimental" they say).

Robert... here is their lastest album.... preformed in it's entirety
for an NPR broadcast right before it's release... if you like it
...get it.. I think it is a great album but it does sound different
from their earlier albums which where more ..hmmm... less traditional
prog I'd say. There was some turn-off from old time fans it appears..
but this album might appeal to more traditional prog fans.

Velislav Ivanov - Under Dark Skies
Have you checked him Micky? I know you're not a Neo Prog fan, but if you have time, you can download his music for free(legally). It's quite dark themed, melancholish, Bulgarian Neo Prog. His second album is a bit more Eclectic I would say, I like it quite a bit. Also yesterday, passed his latest(Velislav's) onto CD, and it sounds really good on "real" speakers.

So far, I'm very impressed. I expected this to sound as stiff as the mid-80s bands. Instead... whoa, the 88 band is filled with great textures (horns galore, for one thing!). The twist given to earlier material is just great
