I am holding out for the first Exivious album myself.  that Obscura disc is rather generic to these ears....nothing new to be heard there.  And how dare they reference a groundbreaking death metal album, such as Gorguts' Obscura, and yet sound nothing like them or even in the same arena....?

I read on http://www.metal-archives.com/ that the debut album by Exivious is scheduled for release on the 11th of May 2009 and itīs going to be Limited to 1000 handnumbered copies. Only a 1000 copies??? I hope itīs possible to pre-order. With Tymon having guested ( maybe he is a full-time member?) on Traced in Air there has to be more than 1000 people who are interested to hear what Exivious are all about.

I haven't really looked through the last few pages of this thread but was very curious about what you guys thought of Mastodon's new album?

I think it's very good but quite a change in direction, with a more spacey, psychadelic vibe to it.Dailor's drumming is a tad bit more restrained than on previous releases though, which was a bit of a let down for me.He's still awesome though.

I'm listening to it (and them) for the first time... Not as heavy as I'd expect, at least the clean vocals threw me off.

Yeah, this has been a good couple of weeks. I'm glad you like war from a harlots mouth so much! How does it compare to Transmetropolitan? I heard the new vocalist sucks.

WITTR's new album features better production, which you would think would be a big plus. But previously they recorded with vintage equipment and on tape, and they lost that great "organic" black metal sound that they achieved on their previous 2 albums.

I don't think the new vocalist is bad at all,and Shoals is a big step up from Transmetropolitan imo.

I know this doesn't belong in this thread, but what did you think of the new Giant Squid and Irepress albums?
