Now they need to release tour dates for ProgNation09 so I can see if they hit DC or VA. If they do, I'm going, no question about it.

awesome... actually looking forward to this album... someone had told me they were finally progressiing past prog-metal and were doing a Krautorck acid freak album. Now that is a Dream Theater album that will be worth listening to. I applaud them for not sitting on their asses and doing the same sh*t album after album.. remember.. progressing.. progresssive.. prog... it all fits togeher.

Yes, and we'll be there too! I've wanted to see them live for some years now, even though I am anything but a fan. Who knows, perhaps we'll be converted too... |

I really enjoyed Systematic Chaos, a good "return to form" after the woeful Octavarium and I'm hoping they can keep up the quality, though they could do with better lyrics than last time. |

The great thing about a new Dream Theater album is either you'll like it or you can make fun of it. Either way I'm happy.

Their live shows are always really good, because you'll never hear them make a mistake (and I know how much you're a stickler for Petrucci's playing, how AMAZING and TECHNICAL and VIRTUOSTIC, and most importantly, TASTEFUL, it is). |

What's with the AA song-type people are talking about? Is it really true, that I've grown so bored of DT, that I don't know what that means, because I thought I did. After all, I have the albums, I should know the songs.

I was confused too, but someone mentioned the "12 steps" earlier, so I'm assuming this is something to do with Alcoholics Anonymous?

My Gosh. Every time DT comes out with a new album all you hear on these forums is whining and b%tching about whether or not it will sound like IAW or Awake. Those albums came out 15 YEARS AGO!! THEY ARE NOT GOING TO SOUND LIKE THAT AGAIN - GET OVER IT. If you are going to complain about DT you are obviously not a fan. So why are you posting up here. Bands like DT, Symphony X and others are keeping prog metal alive and well for the rest of us who love it If you don't like go to the classic rock forums and discuss the finer qualities of Autograph or something. Otherwise just zip it and play Pull Me Under for the 10,000th time.

It does. Drummer Mike Portnoy was an alcoholic, and he turned to AA for help. There is a series of songs on the band's later albums which reflect his experiences with the 12-step program. Unfortunately, this is all I know. |

Well, thats about it. If you want to know the songs are The Mirror, The Glass Prison, This Dying Soul, The Root of All Evil and Repentance. They're supposed to reflect the 12 steps, though there wont be 12 songs as most cover several steps. |
