I posted it today. I had to wait for the admin to delete my rating so I could re-grade/review the album. It should be up now... aha, yep: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=204253

This thread needs a bump.

Is anybody planning on seeing Opeth/Enslaved soon? They're actually passing through Arizona in Tucson and I think maybe I'll be able to go.

I hope Enslaved are good performers. I'm not too familiar with their discography, though I've listened to "Vertebrae" a few times, and they'll most likely perform material from that album the most since it's the most recent.

I'm more familiar with Opeth and their music. Should be a good show.

This is what I sent out if you want to read some more:

A few weeks ago I emailed many, many alt/metal record labels with a link to my website and contact information. Out of the approximately 50 that I emailed, only two labels, Code666 & Seasons of Mist, emailed me back. A few days ago Code666 emailed me and told me that the Romanian Experimental Black-Metal band Negură Bunget was looking for an artist to create a T-shirt design, evaluated my artwork, and said they wanted me to do it. In less than a week the label was happy with the final design, I was paid (though not much), and the band was given the rights to my artwork. The T-Shirts will be released in April and I will post send a link when they are available for purchase. I can't post the design until they're released, sorry.

I'm very excited to have had this opportunity as this is the first signed band I have ever completed (paid) work for. I hope that in the future I will receive more work through Code666 and Negură Bunget.

I am also a big fan of the band and this was a true honor to be able to create a piece for a group I so heavily admire. Their 2006 effort "OM" is one of my favorite pieces of progressive Black Metal.

Negură Bunget means “black foggy forest” in archaic Romanian. In a 2004 interview, Negru explained the symbolism of the name:

“ Negură Bunget is a black fog coming from a deep dark dense forest. The name tries to picture somehow the kind of atmosphere, both musical and spiritual we’d want to create through our music. It has also an esoteric nature, standing for the inexpressible parts of our ideology. The two words are also from the Tracic substrate of the Romanian language (the oldest one, containing about 90 words) as the interest for our local history and spirituality is something of crucial importance and meanings for us as a band. ”

I tried to stick to their archaic sense of spirituality and deep interest in nature within the design.

View the trailer for their 2006 masterpiece "OM" here:

Not sure if anyone would consider the following band as one to be included in this category, but I have been enjoying them an awful lot lately:

Scat Opera (fans of Mr. Bungle/Faith No More/Nuclear Rabbit/Primus take note)

(search for their stuff, it's out there)

There shouldn't be a problem if it's OOP. The original artist won't get a cent anyway, just some scalper.

that is how I feel.

anyway, to avoid some further potential problems or sh*t-talking I deleted the link, which was just a blog search find anyway with both of the albums.....no big deal...

I posted a link to downloads of Scat Opera's two albums and than when I was reminded of potential repercussions, I deleted it.... but really that is not what this thread is about.

Has anyone heard the album by the band Renaissance, called "The Death Of Art" (1994?)?
I recommend you seek it out.  It is a two track, seventy minute epic progressive metal masterpiece.  I will try to post some more obscurities as I happen upon them...

The Death of Art rings a bell but I have never heard the album ( probably read a review in an old metal mag). Will seek it out though. Thanks for the recommendation.
