i wouldn't say that it is no fun listening , from your list Evpatoria report and Mooncake are realy good, i enjoy listening to them much, maybe nothing inovative ,but i like them, not complex, typical post rock tunes, never borring(for me) gift from enola explores the heavier part of post rock , they are ok to me.

Maybe, but their instrumentation, attention to sonic detail, and riffage (i.e. the funky groove in "Eighteen Robins Road") are far better than the others from that list. |
I feel the same. The Evpatoria Report have a certain groove to their compositions that i really dig. There are definitely way too many bands out there playing the conventional delay + tenacious jittering of the wrist style of guitar work in the post-rock genre; yet great composing can still keep me interested in some of them.

Is there any really evil Post-Rock sort of like a much mellower Neurosis in existence? I'd love to hear that.

How about Long Distance Calling? Leech? The Pirate Ship Quintet? No so evil or evil for that matter but worth checking out, Jake.

I recommend "Every Red Heart Shines Towards The Red Sun" by "Red Sparowes". That album certainly has alot of dark expressions. Fire that baby up; then tune to track 2: "Like The Howling Glory Of The Darkest Winds...." Yup.

True, true. I just don't want him listening to the first track then presuming that the album isn't dark.

No, I do NOT mean post-metal. I love RC though... Evil =\= Explosive/Heavy/etc Think Lustmord only post rock not dark ambient. This whole thing gives me an idea for a band... hmmm...

Woa, I haven't posted here in ages, how is everyone? I heard 5ive for the first time pretty recently, in particular their album Telestic Disfracture. It's absolute crushes, I love it!

^ Hug, I've only heard of/heard Hesperus, which is also a killer album. I'll look into that. 5ive is a very high quality sludge group.

i see 5ive fanbase here , let me join in, Hesperus i've heard and it is awesome, i love it. @ Jake Korbin man Lustmord?, i don't like it at all. it gets me on my nerves. .
new Wolves in the throne room - Black Cascade is a good one. it has similarities with two hunters, it has ambient parts(not many, but enough) aggressive / slow paced rhythm , progression nicely shifting , full speed black prog .recomended for WITTR fans. PS , every red heart shines... is a killer album.
