Topic: Billy Joel for Prog Related?(reaction test) Posted: February 02 2009 at 19:23 |
This is just a joke. I really don't think Billy Joel belongs here, I just wanted to see the reactions. Please share.

Great thread I actually love Billy Joel, but yeah, he doesn't need our services.

Jelly Bowel, on the other hand, might need help.
And yes I've been drinking. Leave me alone.

Yes. More Prog than Genesis. Jethro Tull made kiddy pop compared to him.

Who is this Jelly Bowel guy? Sound s like The Stranger to me.
Whoever posted WTF or something like that probably voted the same way as me.

It's not that I can't find worth in anything, it's just that I can't find worth in enough.

Well, it's a matter which should be taken seriously. His album "The Stranger" is some sort of concept album. "Goodnight Saigon" is actually a prog epic. He should be in PA!
Now what was your first reaction when you read this?
Good composer, Billy Joel. Great talent. Not prog of course. My first reaction when I opened the thread: someone is cracking a joke.

You shouldn't have told us it was a joke for more authentic reactions Personally, I think Billy was the best think to ever happen to prog. Genesis? Yes? King Crimson? VDGG? Gentle Giant? GET OUT!!! They couldn't write prog to save their lives.

Most of his CDs are in my collection, so therefore he must be prog or at the very least prog related.

He's about as proggy as Elton John (maybe more?). I'm thinking of stuff like Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, Streetlife Serenader, and Scandinavian Skies. Maybe The Entertainer and Captain Jack?
He doesn't belong here, but I think a lot of his music is great, particularly The Stranger and Nylon Curtain albums.

I agree.

I agree with that too, except that I still have to listen to Nylon Curtain, which is supposed to be good.
