It's a comfortable +12°C here now and the sun is shining, the birds are singing... I don't think I'll bother rummaging through the wardrobe looking for that jumper this year after all.
But all this talk of negative temperatures reminds me I need to defrost the fridge-freezer.  |

Seriously, sitting in the sun & heat soon makes me feel sick. 
But -37 is just a tad too nippy. If I had a beer outside now, I'd have to do as you do, and put it on the heater (or in the oven) first!
Reading Dickens recently, I see that the Victorians actually did warm beer sometimes, before drinking it. It seems you come by your appalling tastes honestly.

Dean, you can put the contents of your freezer on my back steps while you do that....
Hell, you could shut the freezer down altogether for a couple of months!
12 degrees?  I'd take my bike out, for sure! 
 sigh!

I am in the same way as you are, Peter. People have been trying for years to get me to go to the seaside in summer, and my response has always been the same: "No thanks, the sun and heat make me sick". This is one of the reasons I chose to go to Finland in 1996 (I could've chosen a number of other destinations), and I never regretted it. It took me some time to acclimate myself, but after my first winter there I started feeling quite at home. On the other hand, the summer of 2003 almost killed me - I worked through the summer, and my office was in the centre of Rome, where during the month of August the average daytime temp was +42C - and NO air conditioning  !

You will recall, of course, that we were pushing the fluids the whole time -- plus I was sitting next to a cool guy like you....

I wouldn't mind the snow if it weren't bad for business. our restaurant is in a rural area; the streets have only recently been cleared, and new snow is already on its way. people think twice before they travel slippery roads to dine at a restaurant

Try Minus 45. That's we have here in Montreal today. Comletely insane.

 It's 15 degrees Celsius here and i feel like I'm freezing! Still no snow.

Driving in to work this morning, the temperature gage in my car said that it was -4 degrees F. I don't know what that translates into in Celsius. Wind chills are supposedly in the -20s. Needless to say even the hottest of women are a bit frigid today.

Quick and dirty way: subtract 32 and divide by 2 (the actual constant is 9/5). So -4 is roughly -18 C.

Thanks. I think that in this instance I like the Farenheit method better. It doesn't quite sound as cold as the Celsius method.

On a serious note it is unusually cold out. Here in Georgia we usually don't get snow when it's really cold.

-20C today in the early Cleveland morning. It made going to classes today rather unpleasant although the 15 minute walks I have are nothing compared to what others have to suffer through. I wore a pair of sweatpants underneath a pair of jeans, 2 pairs of socks, boots, a scarf, an undershirt, a sweater, a coat, and gloves. The condensation from my breath that went on my glasses actually froze. Not fun but the next few days luckily won't be bad.
