 Topic: Why Do You Hate Genesis?

I have hated Genesis for most of my life.The best thing that ever happened to Peter Gabriel was getting out ot that pretentious freaking monumental catastrophic disaterous poor excuse. Trespass SUCKS. Selling England By The Pound SUCKS. Foxtrot SUCKS. But the thing that really annoys me about this dumb band is that in the music store they are always just before the Gentle Giant section and Gentle Giant happen to be my favourite band. Genesis has put me through more torture than you can imagine. I hope that Ihave expressed myslf in a very communicative manner.
Now tell ME why do yo hate Genesis?

I don't think you ought to be Collaborator with that opinion. But that's just my opinion. It's like being a member of a club which diggs classic music and not dig Beethoven, IMO.

I don't. I think they are slightly overrated, but i still like them, and love some of thier music.

I'm a collaborator and I loathe Genesis. There is no rule which states
you must like this or that band to be a prog fan. If most of the music
you listen to is prog... then you're a prog fan. End of matter.

I'm a collaborator and I loathe Genesis. There is no rule which states you must like this or that band to be a prog fan. If most of the music you listen to is prog... then you're a prog fan. End of matter.

Genesis is one of my all time favorites, and I don't understand what
you find so insulting about their mere existence. Having said that,
diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks so...

You have to realize that people have their opinions and are entitled to them. What's this garbage about "not letting him be a Collaborator because he doesn't like Genesis?" Who said that to be a progressive rock fan you have to like Genesis?
But I like Genesis though....

Genesis is my third favorite band, and they quickly became so, having only been discovered by myself only a few months ago! Since then, I've gotten all their albums (I'm an obsessive completionist about collections...). They're not bad, and even their pop hits are still pretty good songs in their own right.
However, their influence among later and modern prog rock bands is great. Their collective virtuosities made fantastic music, and it's a shame they're no longer together as they once were.
