Argus, but I love all the first three albums. Didn't like the way they seemed to become a more generic mid-Atlantic rock band after that though.

I voted for Argus too because it is more of a prog album, though I  like all of their albums and they are consistant in their quality with the exception of Wonderful Stash, never could work out the philosophy behind that one. It is one of the few bands of whom I have a full discography, except their latest release Power of Eternity which I am trying to find.  Definitely an underrated band.

Tough choice between "Pilgrimage" and "New England" for me. Due to the beautiful "By Candlelight" I went with "New England".

Argus, everthing just came together for them on that album, what can I say. Blowin' Free and Warrior are my two favorite songs by them.

Since you asked for studio albums only it has to be Argus, although I first got into Wishbone Ash listening to Live Dates. It blew me away and I guess that's partly because of the songs from Argus presented live. Throw Down The Sword, Warrior, Blowin' Free and King Will Come - amazing stuff!

I have always liked their first three LP's.
I also thought of, later on, that the Wishbone debut, was just as good as Dire Straits 'Sultans'.
 (just an opinion mind you)

I Like Argus. But the first album I heard was Number the Brave. What is a much heavier and direct album.
I can recomend that to any Wishbone Ash fan

There's the Rub, both FUBB and Persephone are memorable. Truth be said though, Live Dates is the best Ash album, because they shone live!
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Yeah that album was a really stander!!! i vote for that.

It is partially spoilt though by two godawful 'boogie' tracks Jailbait and Where were you Tomorrow? From the Ash albums I've heard the first three are the strongest. After that they seemed to get less ambitious and more West Coast.

You have to listen to the "Vocal Version" of Alone, it's incredible!!!

Predictably, I went for Argus... with Pilgrimage a very close second.
The important thing is not to stop questioning.

I won't try to be smart and vote ''Locked in''.......like everybody else i think ARGUS is above the rest.

As mentioned above, EVERYBODY NEEDS A FRIENDHeart happens to be my favorite song by them...9mns of wonderful music.....a ballad as good as ITCOTCK song.
.........VOL 4 is not that bad. you know!

LIVE DATES is something else as well!!

It has to be Argus for me too.

I love four of the first five albums.I think that 'Four' is weaker than the first three but they made up for it on 'There's The Rub'.Laurie Wisefield debuts with some blistering fretwork.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Did Genesis cover a Wishbone Ash song? ;-)

I'm sure that you meant Ballad of the Beacon
