Marillion's manager has been in contact with me and there is no way Black Jester or anyone else outside of Marillion's camp could've heard this. She's pretty upset, per her e-mail:

it's just loads of journalists have been writing and asking me for review copies as they have seen that.  Whoever that prick is they have done a lot of damage to us :(

YES — Yes Remixes
Review by renoprog (reno faoro)

1%20stars Please give me back my $14!!!!!!!!!! Wow, I bought this piece of crap back when I was a dealer and thought it was going to be just plain remixes of these cool tunes in the classic style remixes to us proggers meant. Back then I didn't think of finding a review of this before I threw down my cash. Amazon wasn't big enough for me to really know about. The only site that I knew about was Half.com and they weren't publishing reviews then. So I purchased it blindly being a completionist.

Before I continue cutting down Yes. I'm no way innocent myself when it came to selling my wares at shows and the internet. I'm sure I came off a little pushy, but was trying to pay for my expenses. But am I the only person who thinks Steve Howe and the rest of Yes would put out anything to make a buck? Yes, l know that these guys probably didn't make as much money as those Pop clowns out in the radio world make, but are these guys that poor? Just look at all of the different collections they have put out with very few new things to offer. I love YES and actually feel that they have done more than Genesis (who's my favorite band of all time) in the prog realm. Sorry to all of you guys from Yes and the Yes fans. ELP and other old prog bands do the same thing. I blown a lot of money myself, so I shouldn't be so hard on them. But this has been bugging me for some time. I'm glad to get it off my chest. Maybe someone else might agree.

Review

Headcase
(Ian Berkeley)
4%20stars i am sick of every one hating on franks story albums they are funny as hell and worth a listen. sure its not as proggy as some of his other works but its not meant to be. i give this album a 4 and an apology for all those haters out there. Thing-Fish deserves its lovin.
Er, so what does Ian actually like about the album that he feels so strongly about ?

Sounds like this guy hasn't got beyond the third track, surely a little unfair to review an album without even listening to it all.

thoughts on this one? this is on the home page, i just read it, seems . . . wrong, no matter how you feel about the band;good bad or whatever. a condescending rant more than a review of musical ideas.

TOOL — Ænima
Review by Mlaen (Neven Crnobrnja)

1%20stars I've already wasted too much precious time exploring this pitiful piece, so I'll be brief. This is one of the most meaningless and emptiest albums I've ever experienced. It also happens to be awfully boring, lacking ANY trace of beauty, power, inspiration or emotion (except for anger). Just take a look at the lyrics - ignorant, pseudo-intelectual mess. Pure pretentiousness selling itself as something smart. I have a feeling Mr. Maynard James Keenan got things terribly wrong.

Music fits lyrics perfectly - mostly a screaming noise in the grunge/nu-metal style; atonal musical w**kery, if you like. Nothing truely progressive here. Tons of heavy, repetitive riffs and repulsive vocals. Dull, pointless fillers (trying to sound interesting) every now and then. (Recipe read in German sounds particularly funny, can't stop laughing, help me please.) No melody. No rhythm. No hooks. No catchiness... Oh, I almost forgot - drumming is decent.

To end up in a brighter way, I'll quote another reviewer's joke: ''Tool is not popular and highly rated because the world is coming to an end, they are popular and highly rated because the world has already ended.''

Would you excuse me now, I'm getting a headache. Goodbye Tool, hope I never hear from you again.

^ Probably the reviewer found some spelling errors, asked admins to delete his review and then wrote corrected text.

Surely, the tracklist enlisting isn't necessary. Confused

"PAIN OF SALVATION — Scarsick
Review by Cool Top

5%20stars Scarsick... a highly underrated album. While Scarsick is my least favorite PoS album thus far, it is by no means bad. The band continues to blur the line seperating different genres and has made something that's different from everything they've done before it. This is easily the least progressive album they've released, but that doesn't keep me from loving it.

Scarsick can't be generalized - every song is radically different from the last. You've got the goofy pop- ish oddity of America, the rap-rock Spitfall, and of course Disco Queen. All very different, but all very good. The track that stands out the most, as usual, is the closer: Enter Rain. A very atmospheric track with a saddening end.

The lyrical content is what I enjoy most about Scarsick, and it's some of my favorite work from Gildenlow yet. I'd say it's the most blatant in it's meaning than on previous albums, but it's still very well written. I can identify with a lot of it too, so it clicks on a personal level.

If you're offended by freedom of speech, avoid this album. Otherwise, it's a great album that sounds like nothing else. It doesn't hold up to the brilliance of Remedy Lane / Be / Perfect Element, but really, what can? "

It's his least favourite PoS album and not as good as 3 of their others, so how the hell can it warrant 5 stars?

I guess he thinks they are all worthy of 5 stars. He does say "it's a great album".

Hmmm, I believe erik's latest (and last?) review here needs some editing. Complaining about the site in the review as well as linking to a commercial site isn't quite in the spirit of things I'd say....

Explain how it's "fine". No, it's not fine. The guy posted the exact same (word for word) review prior to anything being released and it was deleted. There are no rap sections or growls. It's obvious that it's a bullsh*t review...pretty much because it's the exact same review. I thought it was obvious and a little surprised that it's being met with resistance.
