Not a problem, I'll even give some hints as to what they sound like ;D
 
Yakuza - Saw it tagged as Psychadelic Metalcore, but that's only partial.  They use Saxaphones in their music to add ambience and also often use world music beats to add a distinct flair.  Brilliant; try Transmutations or Samsara
 
Eric Friesen/Windham Hell - Classical metal, in the truest sense.  Taking both classical compositions and translating them to metal, and creating their own, they are a truly unique band.
 
Gire - Interesting, I'm still digesting their abum - but it's kind of like a Avant Metal/Electronic Hybrid; it has the classic fast tempo, blaring metal, but combines it with softer passages; however, they are usually not accoustic interludes, but electronic, ranging from ambience to techno.  In their faster passages, they add technoish bass pulses to the double bass for an interesting effect.
 
Thy Catafalque - Featuring members of Gire, it's a more ambient, meandering metal band, but it's brilliant as well.  Heavier classical influence in this than in Gire.
 
These Monsters... - Post Rock/Metal, with a huge helping of Jazz and Ambience; lucious Saxaphone, with some pretty heavy and emotional climaxes.
 
Carnival in Coal - Bungle Metal; Goofy influences like Techno, Disco, Pop and Bungle-esque crazyness added to Death Metal/Grindcore.  Really funny at times, and also interesting to boot.  Easily for fans of Estradasphere, Mr. Bungle or Dog Fasion Disco
 
IWRESTEDABEARONCE - Ha ha, female fronted Grindcore with a lot of electronic influences.  Juxtaposed with really tender sounding female vocals, and soft, accoustic and electronic pop sounds at times.  Very humorous, but pretty inaccessible.

Last night I bought and listened to The Chronicles of Israfel "Starborn, Tome I," Kekal "The Habit of Fire," Noekk "The Water Sprite," Virgin Black "Requim - Mezzo Forte," Yakuza "Transmutations," and Dark Suns "Existence."
 
All were very good.   Think I'm really going to like the sub genre.

Damn, that was quite good, different to anything on their last album, a good sign. SUSAR is one of my favourite albums, I canot wait for this!

Can get "samsara" easily, still shopping for "Grave Human Genuine" and Day without Dawn's "Understanding Consequences."
 
Can't wait for the new Indukti myself, oh and Kongh's "Counting Heartbeats" arrived today, still having problems finding Omega Massif.

^Right, slight change to the thread title to make it easier to find but I would rather the thread was kept for mostly the expeimental metal bands(probably as useless a title as Progressive Rock that, but oh well) as Post Metal already has one or two threads but I wont complaine if theres a few mentiones of those bands in here.

BTW, that looks like its going to be one awsome show Plankowner.Thumbs%20Up

Right, since I last posted in here I've got a couple more albums of this type, most notably Dark Suns Existence. More of a transitional album between the Opeth'esk Swanlike and the more heavily PoS influenced, though very definitely unique, Grave Human Genuine. A bit clunky in places but generally very good.

Orphand Land Mabool was a bit of a disappointment, the eastern influences were nice but didnt make up for the slightly lackluster composition, not sure what all the fuss is with this band.

Actually, this shows just how few metal albums I've been buying recently, too much music to get, not enough time/money.LOL

One last thing, does anyone else think that Pain of Salvation should be moved from Progressive Metal to Experimental/Post metal? I know they've got nothing in commen with Post Metal, but neither does nearly half of the bands here and Entropia, The Perfect Element, Remedy Lane and BE are most definitely experimental albums with little in commen with the standard form of PM. I'm just canvasing for opinion here, if people agree with me I'll bring this up to the Prog Metal Team.

now listening to Isis's 'In The Absence Of Truth'. 

Quite a departure from 'Oceanic' and 'Panopticon' in that the sound/performance is so propulsive and light compared to the lavasludge crush of the previous two.  Still takes some getting used to for me but it does have its charms.............

When I first got a hold of In The Absence of Truth, Garden of Light got played at least 5 times a day for more than a month straight.

This sounds great. I loved S.U.S.A.R.


and I love bands that progress, as they seem to be doing. Anticipation for this album just skyrocketed for me.
